"Sir, we have your X-rays back, you appear to have sustained numerous impacts to your rib cage and elbows, do you have any idea how this could have happened?"
I never understood the problem with the dropshot. Doesn't really seem like an exploit so much a good idea.
I can only say it is really bad when a game is lagging and you're still shooting at a head when the head actually isn't there.
It's the same as bunny-hopping...it's abusing a mechanic that serves other purposes in the game. Bunny-hopping, quickscoping, and dropshooting aren't realistic. Before someone gets on the "LOL BLOPS REALISM" train, let me say that almost every other unrealistic part of the game is part of a tradeoff for deliberate gameplay reasons.
Bunnyhopping, quickscoping, and dropshooting are all annoying and unrealistic. They eliminated bunnyhopping by limiting how much people can jump. They eliminated quickscoping by introducing deviation at first. Why not do the same for dropshots?
When you drop to the ground you effectively become immobile
I'd say that's a pretty big trade off

I've never understood what people have against drop shotting. It's just movement. Isn't it a hell of a lot easier to headshot somebody when they drop shot? As long as you're actually aiming at your opponent instead of just lol-spraying, you should end up with quicker kills if your opponent drop shots because they make your only targets their faces.

I don't really get how dropping prone for a more stable firing position is unrealistic.
I'm really surprised to see I'm in the minority on the dropshooting issue.
The fact that you almost entirely remove your opponent's target AND get an accuracy boost AND keep your target AND do it instantly doesn't seem unbalanced?
As for the whole loss of mobility thing...I'm not buying it. Someone that drops prone for each engagement doesn't need to move.
EDIT: No, being prone for a more stable firing position is realistic. You try dropping and shooting someone in the face, it's hardly "more stable" than standing and doing it.

Shoot at people's knees habitually.
Problem solved. It's what I had to do. But I dropshot pretty much everyone anyways.

It looks and plays ridiculously, and to even have a shadow of realism their accuracy should be lower than sprinting with a one handed LMG. Your weapon being in free fall temporarily isn't exactly a recipe for hitting anything.

If someone started firing at me with a gun, I think my first reaction would be to hit the dirt. Certainly ranks up there higher than standing up straight while returning fire.

Asking for realism in a CoD game?
teehee
Shadow of realism. It's not as far fetched as you imply. That, and I think dropshotting is not as fun as removing dropshotting, to add a more important argument.
I don't even get why it's a problem. Dropping prone isn't "instant". And if you're firing centre-mass, you'll hit them square in the face as they're going down. And, failing that, the only target available to you after they're in the dirt is the most vulnerable part of their body. No part of that seems like it should be an issue.
If anything, I'll say that sometimes I don't expect the drop shot, and it gets me killed. We roll up on each other and he goes right under my shot, and I think, "Oh, right on. Won't fall for that next time." And I don't.

It depends on a couple factors, but often the correct answer is to bring your gun up and fire at the target from the standing, particularly in situations that are common in COD.

I just know dropshooting is awesome because my opponent will be all "LOL, headshot."
That's such a strawman argument. There's no reason to throw out realism without a specific reason. By your logic, we should add bunnyhopping and elf grenades into the game.

"Fool me once" or whatever.
No, firing center mass isn't a guarantee to hit them "square in the face". I'm shooting in bursts, like a responsible mans should, and so it's not like I'm cutting them with a fucking continuous laser. The "only target available" argument is retarded as well. I don't care if the only target = most vulnerable target = man's butthole. Here's a new mode: you play normally, and I'll roll around as a one-hit-kills-me soccer ball. It's cool though; I'm more vulnerable.
I've never understood what people have against drop shotting.
It's a pretty simple equation
tactic x + gets me killed = cheating/lame/exploit
tactic x + gets me kills = awesome/legit
Also, complaining about having to play capture the flag because you want Marathon Pro? Really? You're publicly admitting that you want Marathon Pro? For shame.

Yeah, this has everything to do with me QQ'ing about my scores, and nothing to do with the fact that I don't want to play a game where the de facto tactic is to "just aim at feet."
edit: Well I'm tired of aiming at the head so CHEW ON THAT
If you're not sniping, you shouldn't be aiming for the head anyways

...I always aim at the torso(my heatmap is pretty much the groin, lolgonorrhea) and I can say dropshotting has never caused me much trouble...unless there is lag.

But playing lame gametypes just to unlock something useful is stupid.

Clearly he's either a Buddhist or is appreciative of Thor if the official boards are anything to go by. But absolutely not a racist shitheel or anything of that nature.
I just don't get why people bitch about drop shotting. I'll probably never get it.
When you drop shot, you're more likely to get shot in the head. Your weapon accuracy will most likely decrease while you're going down. You may go prone next to an object, preventing you from turning effectively. While prone, your turn sensativity is decreased, so it's difficult to quickly adjust aim to the left and right. And if your opponent's familiar with drop shotting, he'll more than likely chew your face off with bullets as soon as you land or jump laterally out of your target zone. Those are the penalties you face when your goal is to drop under someone's line of fire.
It's seriously not a big issue. I mean, it's just movement.
And where does the bitching end, really? Is it bullshit to be shot at somebody who's prone? Or is it only bullshit if they go prone right before they shoot you? Is it bullshit if someone jumps into your fire, turning your chest shot into a lower damage multiplier leg shot (or your sloppily-aimed leg shot into a miss)?
Is the only non-bullshit way to fight someone to just stand at the end of an unobstructed hallway and open fire?

The hysterical meta-bitching is uncalled for. No, it's not bullshit to be shot at someone who's prone. Nor do I expect everyone to stand completely still as soon as a firefight breaks out. I've bolded the only part I object to in drop shooting, because that's the way it SHOULD be but isn't. Your accuracy should be nonexistent, plain and simple, when you're falling to the ground.
Ever play paintball or airsoft? People turn, run, and occasionally dive. Diving or dropping while shooting is frankly retarded though.
EDIT: It's not "just movement". All of the stuff you said applies to bunny hopping, should we bring that back? It's not overpowered or unbeatable, it's just annoying to play with and against. It has no place in a game.

I could see maybe the Buddhist thing, if you were playing on a server with only Japanese speakers and if the emblem had no black and red in it at all. However, this applies to like one whole emblem in the entire player base, across all three platforms

I think you're giving dumbasses too much credit. Either way, people trying hard to make others angry is funny if anything.
