I thought that a few people might find this interesting. Tycho's namesake, the astronomer Tycho Brahe, is being dug up and exhumed so that scientists can know how he died.

So the idea he died by drinking too much and having his bladder explode is in doubt? I see from that BBC article that some people think he was ordered assassinated by the King for having sex with the King's mother.

Honestly, if centuries from now that's the kind of rumours flying around about my death, I want you guys to promise you won't exhume me. There's no way my real death would be this awesome.

Ah yes, the old "did he die by not pissing and his bladder bursting" controversy. That version says he was too polite to get up and piss during a very long dinner.

The other option is mercury poisoning.

I've been to Ven during several summers. Amazing little island. I've visited the ruins of both his observatories there.

Well being "polite" around a king who has power of life and death over everyone and can take impoliteness personally is kinda important. Doubly so if it's true that he was boning the king's mom.

And let's not forget the guy lost his nose in a duel and spent the rest of his life with a metal nose.

Tycho Brahe's metal nose is a great name for a band.

I really hope it wasn't mercury. The bladder story is so much more interesting.
