I used to own a mouse like that before I was actually doing image editing every day of my god damned life (sorry senior project stresses). I used to love it. I always sort of wonder now if I still had that if it would be nicer than a normal mouse.
I find the ability to eliminate CTS pretty appealing.
And yeah I have a tablet for my more in depth image editing.
Eh, I guess it's because I use my computer for gaming too. Most of my impressions come from hating laptop trackpads, even for general use.
For gaming you definitely need a mouse, yeah. And most laptop trackpads are awful, even the one on my old white MacBook is not perfect, but the new multitouch ones are amazing.

I find the trackpad is fine for things like illustrator and indesign and even some photoshop work as long as it doesn't involve brush strokes. I have the tablet for brushing things though.
I do wish my desktop was that clean though. That reminds me didn't there used to be a post what your desktop looked like thread? Sorry got a bit offtopic.
Someone with a little more clout around here should make a desktop thread. It would be cool to see what everyone is working/playing with. I know I'll contribute.

I managed to pick up copies of Ico and the first Professor Layton in garage sales for $5 each. (I think I even posted pictures of both in this thread or the last one.) It's all pure luck, but when you manage to get lucky, you really get lucky.

Not sure if this counts, as it was more of a literal pick-up and less of a purchase.
So I come home from work last night, and I notice a faux-wooden entertainment center sitting by the dumpster. Examining it, there are a few scratches and dents and such, but overall it's in very good shape.
(ignore the mess, I'm still cleaning up)
Only major problem is that the cables aren't reaching to the tv / second monitor. So more re-arranging is needed.

Yep we've had a workstation thread around here in the past. I think the last one just died out a while ago.

I miss the E-PEEN threads. Basically the same thing, but your entire house.

There's a workstation thread in Moe's Technology Tavern, but it mostly has professional audio and video engineers posting their amazing setups so I'm a little intimidated to post in there.

But my setup is so wimpy compared to theirs. How am I supposed to live with myself if I don't have the best setup on the entire internet? HOW DO I LIVE!?

I was more hoping for a synopsis... I guess that's what google is for. Carry on!
e: Synopsis under spoiler!
For their first day on the job as the new protectors of Metro City, Megamind (Ferrell) and Minion (Cross) are selling off the gadgets from their evil lair. But when one seemingly harmless "button" unleashes the gigantic robot MEGA-MEGAmind, the duo will have to resort to their old tricks to restore order.

Opened the mail today and found the 2nd volume of Batman: TAS and the second disc of my favorite anime of all time. One great reason to love Amazon : it makes any day feel - if only for a moment - like Christmas Day, when you see that package nestled in among the bills.
Along with a few recent pickups...
...but most thrillingly...

Degeneration is pretty decent; Advent Children is a godawful mess, even being the FFVII fanboy that I am. Though I haven't seen the "complete" version, is it really that much different?
Thumbs up on getting Ratatouille. Will Arnett does a voice in it too!

I can do this too. Degeneration is an abortion. Advent Children Complete is a genuinely good movie. Definitely better than vanilla Advent Children.
One thing to be aware of: The new scenes for Complete look like they were rendered in HD. The rest of the original movie does not look like it was re-rendered. So there's a noticeable difference in image quality between the new scenes and the old.

I forgot about Motion City Soundtrack. I figured they broke up or something. Also is that Toby Mac?
Yeah that's Tobymac. Its one of his earliest albums. It was only $7, so I figured it was worth the money.
I like Toby Mac.
Here's two of my recent pickups of the downloadable variety.
It's a fun little addition to DS2, but it's really short. I've already beaten it, but I'll probably go through it a couple more times to get all the trophies.
One minute people were talking about Blood over in the Doom thread. The next minute I'm on gog.com looking it up. And of course it was on sale. Damnit. So I bought it.
To be fair I do absolutely no real "work" at my desk. It's purely for web browsing and enjoyment. I wish I had a bigger desk but it's the one that came with my barracks room.

This is probably my fault. I went to GoG to see if they had Descent because everyone was talking about it, saw that Blood was on sale, bought it, then accidentally started the conversation about it. :P
I have no regrets!
Except for maybe buying Blood 2.
I had a $5 Reward Zone certificate for Best Buy, so I decided to grab a cheap PSN Card to pad my account with points for the upcoming Stacking DLC and Beyond Good & Evil HD.
I recently grabbed Mirror's Edge, Doom II RPG (I blame the Doom thread for this one too), Dungeon Raid, Tiny Wings, and Stoneship (by Cyan Worlds, makers of Myst. One of my favorite devs.) for my iPhone. Wolfenstein RPG is an older purchase, but I hadn't posted it yet and required symmetry.
Edit: As much as I love digital distribution, it makes incredibly lousy pickup photos.

The Doom thread will ruin us all.
edit: Hey I got something in the mail about this Disney movie club, and I'm wondering if anyone has joined this? Apparently I can get 5 movies now for like 20 cents each, as long as I buy 4 full priced movies in the next two years. It still sounds too good to be true, but I'm intrigued.

This is an ooooold marketing trick that companies pull. Don't you remember the commercials? It's the same deal with books, CDs, etc.
I forget the name of the main company that would do this, but they were pretty famous for it. If you forget about it and don't buy the "full priced movies," they charge you full price for all the movies. And their idea of "full price" is usually higher than anywhere else you can find them.

Got some decent CD's and some great games
Which is surprising considering I'm almost always broke.
That's neat. Every so often I'm tempted to sell my iMac in favor of a similar setup using a Macbook Air.
But then I realize that I don't need a portable computer whatsoever.

Though I do wish some of them had better clarification, like I never understood what happened to that chick with the multiple personality.
And the episode

Even the CG is terrible.
Yeah. The last couple of episodes are pretty weak.
I can do this too. Degeneration is an abortion. Advent Children Complete is a genuinely good movie. Definitely better than vanilla Advent Children.
Only thing I liked about Advent Children was the fights...and I got tired of those after the first time.

I feel like the only way I could keep my desk this clean is if I never used it.
