The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
GRAN TURISMO FIVE comes out in one week. This thread is designed to facilitate the grown men and women of Social Entropy in playing with pretend cars. 1031 of them.
it's really the only driving game, let alone driving simulation, that i get into.
to understand the gravity of how unusual this is, know that i don't even have a real license. i've spent more time driving in gran turismo games than i've ever spent behind the wheels of a real okay now this is just sad and i'm embarassing myself
what i like most about it is that it's as much like an rpg as a traditional driving game
winning races for cars and money, upgrading your cars very precisely, selecting the right cars for the right missions
only instead of terrible anime storylines there's fucking sweetas replays of your gorgeous car tearing it down the straights and then really messily taking a hairpin turn and being bumped into sideways by an AI Mitsubishi Lancer
the online will surely suck like the last one, but it'd be cool to get a best lap thing going if anyone else is going to play this. is anyone else going to? christ, i can't be the only one.

Going down the list of the fastest lap times from Top Gear right now so I know what awesome cars to use in this game.

Oh man I completely forgot about burnout. I loved burnout 3. Only ridge racer I played was 64. I played that a bunch. But I still have burnout 3.
I bought burnout paradise on my ps3 (download) and I hated it. I just didn't like the open city and the multiplayer (or COMPLETE LACK THEREOF) pissed me off. That, and the fact that I actually bought a multiplayer pack for it, and the multi was only of the pass-the-controller variety, which was bullshit.
I'm almost certain that my brother will buy a PS3 specifically for this game.
He bought a PS2 specifically for GT4 then spent about 400 hours in it.
honestly I went to his house earlier this year and he was playing GT4
He's done those 24 hour races multiple times
Wait
There are actual, 24-hour real-time races in GT4?
A few, I think.
B-spec mode is your friend. Except I think you still have to tell your computer driver to pit to fuel up and change tyres. But if you set it to triple-speed, then the race is only 8 hours of boredom.

I like racing games and all, but I wish they'd localize the PS3 versions of Initial D and Maximum Tune.
And if there isn't a PS3 version of MT, there dang well needs to be.

Being able to save in pit stops would be tops
This GT has a 2000 XR8 aswell
I would like a GTHO though

I want to do with you
What spring does with the cherry trees.
I played the hell out of GT3. That was probably due to how fantastic the game looked.
Couldn't get how realistic the cars looked at the time. Also going 700MPH with the Pike's Peak.

But holy fuck it looks so good
I kinda wish one of my roommates was into driving sims because I'd love to just watch somebody play this

I sucked so spectacularly at it, doing terrible on license tests
But it looked so good and I liked the soundtrack a lot
escudo pikes peak edition
all goin vrmmmmmmmmm around an oval track for 4 hours
I just can't play them at all. Arcadey games ala RRRriiiiiiiidge rrraaacceerrr are all I'm really good at.
I never did play 6 or 7
let's talk about burnout
burnout is awesome
winning races for cars and money, upgrading your cars very precisely, selecting the right cars for the right missions
only instead of terrible anime storylines there's fucking sweetas replays of your gorgeous car tearing it down the straights and then really messily taking a hairpin turn and being bumped into sideways by an AI Mitsubishi Lancer
I remember when I played GT3, I hit a dead end really early on
'Cause license tests were impossible for me, and I couldn't do races for cash to buy other cars because I wouldn't do well in races.
So it was just me racing against other dudes in a PT Cruiser, doing terribly.
I know absolutely nothing about cars though so that probably didn't help matters.

In fact I play multiplayer all the time
It is literally the only multiplayer game I play
And it is awesome, it's straight-up my favorite car-based game ever made
two words
CRASH
GOLF
BROS
FOR
LIFE
Oh. Split screen.
The real kind of multiplayer
Sounds like somebody's living in the past, man. Contemporize!
Also it'd be pretty much impossible to do with a game like this on a technical level so you can't really fault them for it
ive been gettin this a lot lately
is there a regalia editor in this?

Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
you mean like this?
no. no, i genuinely hope not
i love crashing into shit
who cares if someone made a hitler car. people got creative as hell with that shit
the spider jerusalem car rocked, for example

The first trailer was in early 2006, I believe
I guess the PS3 is region free, but I always liked Initial D's dialogues.
they should rename it Asleep at the Wheel
