In GT 4 I had a 1962 Buick Special that I tuned up to get 245 mp/h out of it.
I refused to use weight reduction on it, though, so I could have gone faster, but oh did i love slamming that muscle car into the little bitty tuners and having them fly off the track.

The worst thing about Gran Turismo (after the FUCKING LICENSE TESTS GODDAMNIT) is wanting to compete in a new race that you haven't done before. So you watch the demo race a couple of times to figure out which car in the class is quickest. Then you grind lower-level races to earn the money to buy the car you want.
So you buy the car, do a bit of practice with it and enter the race.
And get absolutely pantsed by another car which wasn't in any of the demo races and just happens to shit all over the car you just spent hours getting.
the good thing about that though is you can get in a race, race it twelve times straight and keep getting thrashed by that orange skyline, seriously, who has an orange skyline? quit out, decide to have one more go and end up blitzing it because all the cars this time are slower
it's actually a good thing. it means the races are always different, even when they're... the exact same race

Yeah nope. It takes long enough to watch the demos, figure out what kind of car is regularly in the top three, then go and sift through all the new car stats for similar vehicles and decide on the one with the balance of the best power to weight ratio and lowest weight overall, buy that car and practice with it to get used to its foibles, and then race and get beaten like a red-headed stepchild by some car you can only get in-game on a certain day from the used car yard, or win from getting a gold on an S-class license test.
I have all the full GTs 1 through 4 so far (no prologues), and by the fourth game I was burned the fuck out. I think I've put about 100 hours into it and I'm still basically broke with about a 2-5 win-loss ratio. So I downloaded a save file from gamefaqs with all gold licenses and the resulting freebie cars, and I still don't enjoy the game.
This game likes to install. Takes almost an hour from loading the game up, updating it, installing it, watching the lovely intro video, setting up your options, and loading a race.
Ughhhhh do not want to think about this game right now. Sitting at the garage waiting for real car issues to be dealt with. Currently there is an old man making sexist jokes to another old man. And i mean these guys are freaking old as shiiiit.
Waiting for the inevitable "your car is fine, buuuuuuuut here's some things you should pay for or else you will die." talk
bsjezz, resident ps3 fanboy, is sony's exclusive car racing game better than microsoft's exclusive car racing game
I used to play a lot of Gran Turismo, but then I got a 360 instead of a PS3. Forza is fucking fantastic, and Forza 3 is the best racing game I have ever played.
They're both great franchises, and if you're not really missing out if you can only play one.
This is the first racing game to have a view other than behind the car that I can use. I can see the front of the car, but unlike cockpit, half of the screen isn't taken up by the interior.
I need to charge up my PSP and transfer all my Pokecars from GT Mobile as well I suppose. The licenses on that game are like crack when you can carry it anywhere, gotta gold 'em all.

I watched the Giant Bomb quick look on this earlier
Literally the first half-hour of it was just trying to get the game to work, and that's not even bothering with installing
And graphically it didn't even seem that impressive, which is odd because in stills it looks great and also it's been worked on for forever now
i'm going to be honest with you
it's an ugly motherfucking game at times
it's unbelievably beautiful when it wants to be beautiful, and it's pretty well the most satisfying driving game in existence when it wants to be that, but they don't always meet
but that's gran turismo. always has been, always will be.
The rain effects in this game are fucking terrifying. The sense of power when you open the throttle in a supercar is crazy enough, but then suddenly the car infront of you turns into a vague cloud of spray, and if you happen to be in cockpit view so that you can enjoy the mental sounds a Zonda makes, you may as well be driving with your eyes shut when a downpour starts.

I strongly doubt I will even rent GT5.
Wanna gonna attend a midnight launch, that last delay pushed me too far.
Might as well wait for 6.
That said, I'll ask for it for christmas.
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
I'd use the 1000bhp car trick.
Get a million laps ahead
go grab a drink
increase lead by a few laps
check the score of the hockey game
repeat
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
oh god i'm dying
i need to stop thinking about this videogame and like
have a cup of tea
is it a bad thing i'm cleaning the house exclusively so the place will be tidy and ready for my descent into time trials and license tests?
That is weird to think about
People owning Gran Turismo 5
I'm going to log onto PSN and see if anyone's playing it
MY LAST ASSESSMENT IS HANDED IN
TOMORROW

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.

PS3 is the Zonda
It costs 4x as much, isn't as comfortable and your friends just don't understand.
But you understand
I'm just saying, have things to do.
edit: crikey, that's the fastest 133mb download i've ever seen. spirit of the lambourghini is inside my playstation

you don't even specifically have to do the licenses this time around

You've never had to do the licenses yet.
Unless of course you'd like to race for more than $200 at a time.
ima collect me some autos
also, license tests *shudder*

that would be some real bullshit if they pulled a glitchy gran turismo 2 on this beast
after being in development for like 6 years
I laughed so hard at the end when Jeff joined the multiplayer game in his civic
