I don't know why, exactly, but...putting flying saucers in a western feels surprisingly fresh. I mean, we've obviously done this shit before. But my gut is saying this is a brand new thing, an idea whose time has come.

Maybe it's the emphasis on the cowboys? Have we had, I don't know, Action Westerns before?

Checking over the cast list, not only is it Indiana Jones vs. James Bond. The Kurgan is also playing a role in this masterpiece.

This is like Reign of Fire except instead of dragons versus tanks you have cowboys versus aliens and it has Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford instead of Christian Bale and Gerard Butler and I guess it takes place in the past instead of in the future so it's pretty much nothing like Reign of Fire which in conclusion is a good thing.

I saw Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci in the credits at the end of that trailer. That is not encouraging as the only film they've been involved with that I liked at all was Star Trek and I still thought the writing there was really weak.

This is the stupidest/awesomest sounding idea ever that, inexplicably, seems to have a spawned a movie with absolutely everything going for it.

Like, the idea makes it sound like it should be awful, but everything else about the movie makes it sound like it should be awesome.

I was expecting to laugh my ass off at how stupid this movie looks but instead my interest is piqued by Rockwell and Favreau being involved. I will remain cautiously optimistic until I see some more, but it seems like it could be a fun film.

Movie looks like good summer movie fun. Plus despite the title being captain generic it is based on a comic I believe of the same name.

Its a good time if you like cowboys vs movies though as on the december third you have cowboys vs ninjas.

While he is, the trailer makes him look older than he really does. He was on The Daily Show a few days ago and looked great for being 68.

The old thing I got from the trailer is that Harrison Ford is getting really, really old.

I suspect they were trying for a makeup look that suggests age. If you look at Olivia Wilde in the trailer, you can see bags under her eyes and Craig's face is a little more lined then usual.

Which is pretty standard for westerns. I think 'weathered' is what they are going for.
