I liked playing an adept in ME1 with Liara and Kaiden. So fun to have all the enemies drifting through the air. Didn't really like adept in ME2 because usualy after I'd stripped their barriers they were pretty much dead.
So I'm forcing myself to FINALLY FINISH Mass Effect 1, starting a new character, a Vanguard. Anyways, I've encountered a weird error on my new Win7 machine, no matter what video settings I use, Shepard and several NPC's bodies/armor is very low resolution textures.
Anyone know whats going on and how to fix this? :?

I had a similar problem when I attempted my renegade ME1 run a week or so ago. Although I hadn't even touched the game recently, all of the graphics settings had been reset. Additionally, once I cranked the graphics back up, the textures remained on low for some reason. I didn't do anything special to fix it, I double checked my graphics settings and restarted the game, and it was fine.
I suppose I should mention that I'm also running Windows 7.

So, Vanguard + Electronics Skill + Garrus + ???
Good idea? Might need a meat shield, or maybe thats me (I'm told Vanguard, despite being a close-quarters combatant isn't super durable).

I usually ran with Ashley or Wrex and command moved them into the enemy as a distraction. Wrex never dies.
Unless he dies.
Fucking Ashley shot him in my first play through so I started using her instead. Left a bitter taste in my mouth. Damn opportunist.

I got my fill of Kaiden in KoTOR, so I really didn't mind letting him take one for the team. Ash is a goofy racist who sure wasn't subtle about wanting to take a ride on my Thresher Maw. But given how bland Kaiden was, I didn't care if he died.
"Alenko, what are you doing?"
"Arming the bomb, Commander. Making sure this mission succeeds. No matter what."
"....Good idea. I'm gonna go grab Williams. Hey, good news though: no more headaches for you."
If someone creates a miracle foolproof medicine that is a cure for the common cold, cancer and loneliness but it has the minor side effects of explosive diarrhea, uncontrollable bleeding from the eyes and murder-fugues, that's not a total 'resounding' success.
Adept/Vanguard Shepard wouldn't need to ask about biotic implants or Kaiden's experiences, because he/she would have gone through them as well.
Engineer/Sentinel Shepard wouldn't need a data dump from the team techs every time some new technology was introduced.
Infiltrator Shepard wouldn't be deployed to an active combat zone with a team that consisted of loud, undisciplined aliens.
Soldier Shepard is a tough motherfucker who succeeds because of training and grit and asks questions on an as needed basis. That's not a dig against the other classes, which are fun to play in their own ways, it's just a fact. Soldier makes much more sense than the others in the reality that has been built around the character.

Earlier today, the Migrant Fleet rescued an Eldfell-Ashland Energy employee drifting through the Nubian Expanse in a lifepod. Navigator Camilla Gutierrez, the only survivor of the MSV Stanislaw, says that quarians had nothing to do with the attack that stranded her: "The ship's silhouette was just massive. There's no way the quarians had that monster in their Flotilla. I've never seen anything like it." Asked about the attack itself, Gutierrez reported, "They blew out our engines before we knew what hit us. Smoke was everywhere. I heard the captain yell something about boarders before he ordered us to the lifepods." Eldfell-Ashland says it is relieved Gutierrez was recovered, but that the Citadel investigation should continue "until all parties involved are satisfied."
So, another Collector Ship, Reaper or something new?
Oh man, when that first set of Cerberus dailies was posted, I was thinking of blaming the batarians because we were at that point in the thread (should be every point) and the geth, collectors, and reapers are dealt with or detained.
I didn't think it'd be accurate! If they do something with the leviathan, that'd be awesome, plus it could give us our human-sized proxy enemy for ME3 AND let us begin purging the batarians. Win win.
Plush! What if it means the Batarians accidentally activated the Leviathan, and it started slaughtering Batarians before moving on to attack that ship? Maybe we will learn that the Batarian homeworld has been utterly destroyed (thus saving us the trouble)?!
Also maybe I will win the lottery and be independently wealthy for the rest of my life
Well Didge, I was going to reply by recounting an illuminating conversation I had with my therapist about my desire to destroy all batarians and the need to have batarians to destroy, but then I remembered recent conversations with you that concerned batarians and now I have to call the therapist again.

Kaidan is a Second Lieutenant, pretty much your second-in-command aboard Normandy (you never talk with Pressly!), a skilled biotic and an experienced soldier. His mission, with the nuclear weapon, is immensely crucial to the main objective as a whole, and decides if everyone will get out of there alive or not.
Ashley is a random marine grunt who shouldn't have a place in the game or aboard the Normandy in the first place. Her mission is not crucial. Only loss will be her.
Obviously, that is simply the in-game-makes-perfect-logical-sense reason. I have about a dozen reasons to choose Kaiden over Ashley as well.

aaaa omg omg
i really really really hope it is batarian-related
also, shep isn't designed by epic games, he's not a huge-cankled meathead, so as far as i'm concerned, shep can easily be an adept, engineer, vanguard, etc.
besides, "training and grit" aren't what makes soldier succeed. fucking matrix slowmo with twice the damage is what makes soldier succeed.
honestly i'd think more highly of soldier if they swapped adrenaline rush for immunity; to me, immunity feels a lot "tougher" than an auto-win button every 3 seconds

I hate hiding behind waist high walls like I'm a stunt double for a paraplegic action hero.
Like a Man.
This so much
I think I romanced Miranda that game just because she made my life easier
But I also like my anti-materiel rifle.
But on my Insanity run, played my main Infiltrator, it's pretty much obligatory to use Heavy Reave + Incinerate. That was it.

Thats not totally true. I'm pretty sure she liked dogs, and she always did have trouble telling aliens apart from animals...
Ashley made the right call
Ashley's a naive bitch. I put her back in her place on Horizon.
Wrex is my homeboy.
You seem to have made a mistake there. You implied that Ashley survived Virmire.

Ashley only shoots Wrex if you can't pull off the charm/intimidate or have done his mission, at that point it's bullets or nothing.
They were going to have a manly mud wrestling match and that bitch just up and shoots him.

They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.
How can I make myself excited about this game?
My impressions were that assault rifles = crap but pistols + relevant skill upgrades = awesome.
Also the frame rate issues on Xbox were awful.
I never even got into exploring biotics.
I should add that I have played ME2, a lot so I call bullshit on your ME hate!
Later on, turning a room into complete chaos with biotics is pretty satisfying. Physics engines are fun.
