I AM NOT WITHOUT MERCY, HERE IS YOUR PATHETIC OP.
YES, HAVE HOPE SWELL UP WITHIN YOU! IT MAKES THE FALL INTO DESPAIR THAT MUCH DARKER
It's a proper OP for Blizzard's Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, World of Warcraft. Most players just call it WoW.
Why should I care?
Because it's an MMORPG by Blizzard, the developer of many amazing games such as Diablo and Starcraft. This December, we see the launch of the game's third expansion.
Well, what’s in this expansion?
Glad you asked!
-The old zones for 1-60 leveling have been revamped. New maps, quests and items all updated to reflect the passing years since WoW was released. Updated lore and philosophy behind quests and leveling gear make the experience better all around.
-Level cap increased to 85.
-Two new races: goblins for the Horde and worgen for the Alliance.
-New class availability for preexisting races.
-New secondary profession: Archeology
-New zones for 78-85.
-Rated Battlegrounds
-Two new battlegrounds: Gilneas and Twin Peaks.
-The ability to use flying mounts in Azeroth.
-Guild leveling and achievements, complete with perks and items.
-Reforging, allowing you to change 40% of one stat on item with an equal amount of another.
[url=Patch 4.0.1 Released October 12th, 2010
-The shattering is NOT occurring. This means NO changes to Azeroth's landmass.
-You can run ZG still.
-You CANNOT purchase your flying license in Azeroth.
-You CAN purchase your 310% mount speed for 5,000g.
-Your mounts WILL all scale to your highest skill level.
-You WILL get new talents and skills up to 80.
-You WILL get to reforge your gear. Talk to a guard for directions.
-You WILL get the new glyph system.
-All classes WILL get their new mechanics, if any.
-Stats WILL be changing. Armor Penetration, Mana per Five Seconds and so forth will be replaced with other stats.
-Guilds WILL have a cap of 1,000 members. Pre-4.0 guilds will be grandfathered in: they can stay past the hard cap but will be unable to invite new members until they go under 1,000.
-You will NOT have guild leveling.
-You will NOT have new class/race combos.
-I shouldn't have to say this, but you CANNOT roll Worgen or Goblins.
-Pre-Expansion events WILL be occurring. Enjoy!
-The Guild UI WILL be changed to the Cataclysm version.
-The events for Echo Isles and Gnomeregan have ended.
Patch 4.0.3 Released November 16th, 2010
This patch mainly just preloaded all the data for the Shattering.
Patch 4.0.3a Expected to be released either November 23rd or 30th.
-The Shattering will occur, changing Azeroth's landmass.^
-The new race/class combinations will be available.
-New quests and 1-60 leveling experience will be in.
-Portals from Dalaran and Shattrath will be removed and replaced with class trainers and auctioneers.
-You can fly in Dalaran (requires Cold Weather Flying).
-Total experience required to go from 71 to 80 reduced by 20%.
-I can't believe I have to say this, but you CANNOT level past 80.
-Another obvious thing I have to state: you cannot enter Cataclysm 80+ zones and you will be ported out if you sneak in.
-You CANNOT fly in Azeroth.
-No, you still can't roll Worgen or Goblins.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm December 7th, 2010 at 12:00am PST
-Guild Leveling and achievements are active.
-You can purchase your Azeroth flying license starting at level 60.
-You can level past 80 and enter the new zones.*
-You can purchase a race change for goblins/worgen* and the new race/class combinations.
-You can increase your profession cap past 450*.
-You can learn Archaeology.*
-Yes, you can roll a fucking Worgen or Goblin.*
^Let's discuss the Shattering, shall we? This is ongoing as I get more info.
-Zul'Gurub will be removed from the game. The raptor hatchling will still be in the game. The mounts will not.
-Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj will be changed to a 10man raid. Intended level remains the same (60).
-Loremasters will retain their achievements.
-Any pre-shattering quest removed from the game post-shattering will have the offending quests removed from their log.
-Players still working towards quest-related achievements may see their quest totals lowered as a result of the above.
-There will be new achievements for doing X quests in each post-shattering 1-60 zone. Loremasters will NOT have these by default.
-Absolutely nothing is changing in regards to gathering professions. All herbs, skins and minerals will remain the same.
-Insane in the Membrane will still be available after the shattering, but will not require Dire Maul rep.
-Players who did get their Dire Maul rep up to exalted will receive a feat of strength (as that faction IS leaving).
-All ZG achievements will become feats of strength.

Do troll druids get a different looking moonkin form than tauren?
Doesn't look different in terms of model, has the same look as the Tauren one, I think. However the coloration has the head/shoulder feathers as a black/dark blue and the rest a dark orange.
I just hope the new Azeroth doesn't slaughter my computer as much as being in Northrend does. I reformatted my computer because I was sick of my game locking up the instant I stepped into Northrend, now it only lags like crazy and gives me 2 fps while not loading any models for 5 minutes.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Nope.
But the client is changed.
The cinematic is implemented.
Frosty is gone. Deathwing is in.

Excellent! Now I won't sit here at work hating the fact that I'm stuck here at work.

Taking bets on when the server comes up.
I'm calling five pm central.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
So right now, while the servers are down, the following is occurring:
*Deathwing is wrecking things left and right.
*Garrosh kills Cairne due to Magatha poisoning his blade, then the Grimtotem take over Thunder Bluff only to be evicted by Baine.
*Magni turns himself into a rock, his daughter comes back and tries to take over Ironforge for the Dark Iron, Varian intervenes and sets up a council to rule Ironforge with a Dark Iron, a Wildhammer, and an Ironforge dwarf.
*Noggenfogger becomes crazy rich, marries the goblin girl who helped him with his elixir, and takes over Gadgetzan.
*The bridge in Redridge Mountains is finally completed.
*Not to be outdone, the peasants in Sentinel Hill not only complete their inn but also build a wall around the entire town.
*To really show off, the workers in Theramore build a bridge and highway cutting across Dustwallow Marsh completely from scratch.
*The goblins completely remodel Azshara and set up their giant Mako Cannon.
*The Greymane Wall is destroyed. Worgen settlements built in various places around the world.
*The Western Plaguelands are mostly cleansed.
*The Alliance gets it's ass kicked and loses a bunch of ground to the Horde...except in the Barrens, strangely enough.
*Captain Placeholder makes his triumphant return...as a Horde alligned NPC?
*Malfurion returns and Staghelm is arrested.
*The world dragons spawn no more. They're either dead or quest givers now.
*Khagdar and Rhonin decided they hated all the foot traffic and closed the city portals in Shattrath and Dalaran.
*Baron Rivendare decides he's sick of being mount farmed all the time, so he leaves and convinces everyone that the paladin who used to help you kill him is the new Baron Rivendare. Dread Pirate Roberts style.
*Desolace gets a lot more greenery and some more demons invade.
*Most of those zones that were on the world map but you couldn't click on them due to them being empty have been washed away and are now just water. Exceptions include Gilneas, Hyjal, and possibly Twilight Highlands depending on how you look at it.
*Hogger is arrested and jailed within the Stormwind Stockades.
*Mr. Smite is dead (and so are a bunch of other bosses from Dead Mines, Shadowfang Keep, Stratholme, Zul'Gurub, Stockades, and Sunken Temple but we really only mourn for Mr. Smite).
*Worgen and Goblin death knights show up and are all, "What? We were totally here back before you killed Arthas. Didn't you notice?"
*In order to stimulate the economy, both Varian and Garrosh hire a bunch more flightmasters and cram them where ever they can find room in order to create new jobs.
*The dwarves open their own bank and auction house in Stormwind...and they'll probably end up being the primary bank and AH for Alliance characters due to how close they are to the Cata portals. Who says dwarves don't have good business sense?
*A random explorer wandering Tanaris wakes up after Deathwing's rampage and proclaims, "Holy crap, I discovered Egypt! With cat-centaurs!" when looking to the south.
And we don't get to see any of it happen. Just the aftermath.
It's like that one time I passed out from drinking too much in college and woke up to find oatmeal all over my dresser and my cheque book in the middle of the floor.
I had logged out in the moonwell in stormwind's park hoping something funny would happen when I logged back in but that was before I read the blue post saying we all get ported to graveyards or some such. Fun ruined!

TOO MUCH. SLAP IN THE FACE.
I hope there's some kind of NPC saying that the contractors who took those jobs were awful.
And we don't get to see any of it happen. Just the aftermath.
And that is why I am glad I got the Kindle versions of Stormrage and The Shattering. It explains the world dragons, Staghelm, and Cairne / Magatha etc.
I am only saddened by the fate of Eranikus.
I shall never get rid of my Chained Essence of Eranikus. NEVER.
(Repeating from earlier thread, anyone know if Classic Dungeoneering achievement changes at all / get credit for?)

He finds some tablets that have a ceremony to "commune with the earth" which turns him into solid stone. Or diamond, I don't remember which. I also find it absolutely hilarious that Anduin is the first NPC with a hearthstone.

For shame.

destroying azeroth seems unnecessary, but that's not stopping deathwing.

I got rid of it because I always felt a little guilty tormenting his soul for a measly 400 aoe damage.
