As someone said in the above post, Real Life decided to throw a monkey wrench into my G&T Secret Santa celebration.
First off: I recieved a gift. The collection of stuff is awesome:
-A Cubs Snuggie.
-Two books on the Cubs- I don't have them handy right with me as they're at home (just don't have room or time for awesome books like that right now, but I promise I will read them cover to cover over Spring Break.
-A copy of Sakura Wars: So Long My Love for Wii. I have been looking for-fucking-EVER for this game. You have impeccable tast.
Now, you might notice that my gift post is missing something. Snarky humor? Nah... A cheezburger joke? No...
Pictures! That's what it's missing. That's where real life comes in.
The photos are on my sister's digital camera. She meant to upload them as soon as possible (though she kept saying she did just to get me to shut up, I think); but last week, some nefarious little jerk helped himself to the stuff she left in the back of her car- a bunch of CDs... and the goddamn digital camera.
I have informed Doc of this, and if need be, I will scour the Googles to try and get a set of pictures up of the gifts. I know this sucks, because my Santa did an awful lot of work to put this loot together. But short of flying a bunch of you guys up here and prowling the mean streets with bats and a fruit fucker on a leash, I don't think I'll ever be able to post the original pictures. It was the only digital camera we had, and short of snapping replacements with a disposable, paying to get them on a CD-Rom, and uploading them from there...
I'll do my best to get pictures, but I just wanted to let you guys know I haven't forgotten my duty.
I think, in situations such as yours, descriptions will do perfectly well. I've always thought it was much more important to show the joy your Santa brought than to show the pictures.
Real Life can be such a pain sometimes. Stuff happens, and you did nothing wrong! Good gifting and receiving there!

Sakura Wars is amazing.
And I'm of the opinion that there's not much justifying this late in the game. The deadline is posted well in advance. If you don't think you can commit to it, don't sign up.

Is there an actual firm deadline posted for G&T? I can't find a post that says "If you don't have something delivered by XXX, you are banned." I think I can recall a post by Tube stating that all kinds of bad shit could happen to you, so if you think in the slightest that you can't get something out, don't even bother. I mean, I did SS from Afghanistan one year, so it's not impossible to make something happen with 20 bucks in 2 months.

As far as money goes, money was tight-ish for me this year, and the best thing was the Thanksgiving and Christmas Steam sale. Lots of great games, low, low prices. No shipping costs.

I think this year I'm going to put $10 a month into a dedicated Secret Santa fund. That way I won't have to worry about whether or not I have enough money when the time comes (which is what stopped me the two times before this.)
