New Laptop During "Crazy Savings Time"

PythosPythos Registered User regular
Since I started working for my current company I have been spending a lot of time away from the house and I have discovered a need to fill some of this time with a laptop. I figured that since there should be some good/great deals this week I should look around and pick something. Some key features I was looking for were an i5 2.6ghz processor (or AMD equivalent), 4 GB RAM, 500GB 7200 RPM HD, and 1GB video card that will switch from discrete to integrated to save on battery.

I found this set up on HP:

HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition customizable Notebook PC

* Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
* System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
* Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-460M Dual Core Processor (2.53 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz
* 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 switchable graphics [HDMI, VGA] - For Dual Core Processors
* FREE Upgrade to 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
* 640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
* No Additional Office Software
* No additional security software
* High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard)
* 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Widescreen Display (1366x768)
* No TouchScreen (includes HP TrueVision Webcam)
* LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
* Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
* Backlit Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader
* HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

This is gonna run just about 1050 with a 200 rebate HP is offering this week.

My question is, has anyone found anything else with similar stats for less? Let me know, thanks.

(tl;dr) Looking for sweet laptop deals this week.

    I bought this, but it's sold out already. Obviously it has a slower CPU, but I think the price made it worth it.

    I think the Asus U30jc might fit your need and be a heckuva lot cheaper.

    Not sure how much gaming power you were looking for though
