Ok, well, My family and I foster dogs from the SPCA until we can find them homes. Basically, we take dogs that would normally go unadopted and be put to sleep due to either minor ailments (i.e. Kennel Cough) or personality traits ( being so scared of people they piss themselves when you go near) and we rehabilitate them into normal dogs and find them proper homes. Currently i have a pitbull mix puppy that i'm needing to find a home for. She very timid and we're still working on her social issues (she's scared of almost everything) but she Iwill be ready for adoption soon. So, here is the dog http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v517/UrbanDecae/babies/DSCI0008.jpg (she's the little red and white one and its a link because i don't have all my pictures at work). send me a PM if any of the houston folks are interested.
Also, for the rest of you, send me hate PMs because this thread really irritates you. OR just shit all over the thread as per usual.
Drunkenly pissing on a girl's work clothes is no path to a second date.
Sounds like a good thing you're doing. Hope some dogs find a good home. Poor puppy, sounds like she got hella abused.
Yeah, but we're socializing her a bit and she's progressed quite a bit. We also have an older pit mix that is very friendly now, but had the same fear issues when we got her. But this older dog was in WAY worse shape. She was hit by a car as a puppy and had her pelvis broken in 3 places as well as her right back leg, PLUS she has a few chemical burns on her back. No telling what did those, specifically.

Hey, I hope you have luck in finding her a home. Getting homes for abused and socially neglected dogs can be really tough. Even once you get them into a home it can take years to rehabilitate them fully (my girlfriend's brother has an abused dog, it took her years to control her bladder problems and seperation anxiety).
I can't really help, but thanks for doing what you're doing. It's sorely needed.
As for the rest of you, shut the flying fuck up you ignorant sacks of shit. I'm so fucking tired of all of you stupid fucking ignorant motherfuckers who think that this is YOUR fucking forum. Fuck you assholes. Sure, it's fine shitting on a shitty thread or calling someone a dumb-motherfucker when they're being a dumb-motherfucker. But what the fucking hell you assholes? Seriously, you think you're being cool by shitting on someone who is doing a good thing and trying to save a dogs life? You think that somehow earns you internet credit? You think your little retarded, socially inept ass somehow gets more friends here because of it?
Scared dogs are the saddest thing there is.
Especially great danes that fear humans like the plague even though they could snap a guy's spine just by leaning against him.
But if you take in and rehab dogs on a regular basis, why does this one in particular get a thread?
What about the other puppies who don't get threads?
Well honestly, i plan to revive this thread as dogs cycle out, though at some point i may run out of texas area forumers. i just know that the faster we get this one well and find her a good home (and BTW anyone who is interested will be screened and interviewed to make sure that this and every other one is going into the right environment), the faster i can get OTHER dogs from the pound and help them.

Would you mind giving a few details of this re-socialization process? Like what is it you actually do with these dogs to rebuild their confidence.
Its a good thing you are doing Tiger. I live in San Antonio and if I want another dog I will look you up. I got both my dog and cat off the street.
My dog (Biscuit) I found in the ghetto off the highway at a gas station. She was walking up to everyone wanting food I suppose. she had serious hair loss going on and she smelled like motor oil and gas. I was afraid she was going to get hit so I called her into my car and she jumped right in and sat down. I was going to take her to ASPCA but ended up keeping her. She looked really nice once I got her all cleaned up and her hair grew back. She is a really sweet dog.
Cat (Boudreaux) was given to me as a kitten. A friend had found him. He was really fucked up. patches of hair cut from his body and tail the stickers caught in his long hair. Huge belly from worms or whatever. He seriously looked hideous, like something you would find in the swamp. he is a huge (not fat but size) cat now. bigger then the dog.
Natasha's brother's dog is a rail thin, white, Siberian Husky named Athena.
She's got massive seperation anxiety which has taken years to control. She's an adorable poochy but, holy hell, you pay attention to anything but her and she's in your face. You know, to make sure you remember she needs petting.
She's a great dog and I'm really glad that Natasha's family had the heart to go through the years of patience that was required to help her out.

Biscuit is really lovey. When you sit down. she jumps in your lap, and by that I mean you, whom she has never met. You come to my house and sit she is in your lap. However, if you just say down to her she will look at you with sad eyes and get down.........then go sit on someone elses lap. You can leave her in the house alone though. she will just sleep or play with the cat. it is really wierd. they actually play when they get bored. they tear ass around the house taking turns chasing eachother. then they wrestle. It is really crazy looking.
Next time you do this, you're banned. I'm tired of this.
I'm thinking about changing my title to Nostradamus.
Seriously, I'm as opposed to the booboo carebear forum as anyone else, but when I'm seeing the same few people shitting in EVERY thread without EVER contributing anything I'm inclined to say "hey, why not find a different forum to post in"

That's really nice that she sounds like she's pretty well adjusted. Many street dogs don't have it so easy once they get a home.

Yeah, that's basically how I feel to.
Hence my post earlier. To shit on a retarded thread or call a stupid motherfucker a stupid motherfucker is fine. But, c'mon... this thread was fine and actually had content.

This sounds exactly like my friend's pets, except his cat is more like a dog anyway. I love those kinds of cats - she'll even roll over on your feet so you can rub her tummy.

I agree for the most part, so long as we can figure out where the line is. I mean, it's one thing to give someone crap over a bad thread, it's another to give them crap just because it's a newbie. But if it's a newbie and a bad thread, I don't think we should be forbidden to ride them like a dirty mule, because, hey, it was a bad thread.
I guess the problem comes in where people indescrimately poo-poo on posts, even when the content isn't sucky. Is that fair to say?

That doesn't bother me so much about my parents Husky because he's a real hoot to wrestle around with.

I was expecting her to have issues and have to work with her. like being a crazy barker or some kind of disorder, but she is totally normal. Dosn't bark harldy at all, doesn't chew on shit she is not suppose to, etc. I am trying to keep from posting a picture. she is hella cute though. it is hard not to. lol
I'm debating on getting a dog or a cat when I move off campus and into my apartment this fall. I'm leaning towards cat since I'm going to be out of the place a good deal with classes and flying, but damnit I miss my dog back home, so ionno.

It must be eaten first. My shit i mean....not the dog.
