I'm going to have a contest.
The winner will receive a shiny copy of Metro 2033.
Here is what you have to do:
In a mini-review format (at least a good paragraph) I want you to tell me why your favorite game (or one of your favorites) is terrible. The review can be funny or serious; but your negativity has to be legitimate.
In order to qualify you have to both PM me your entry AND post it in this thread for all to see your humility about your favorite(ish) game If you don't do both, I could very likely miss your post and that would be sad.
However, I don't want to hear why a game you like that happens to already be terrible, is terrible. If you really enjoy Desert Bus, I don't care; that is cheating. The game has to be at least generally accepted as good.
In ONE HOUR from the posting of this post, I will choose a winner. It will be my favorite review and it will be completely subjective so don't complain.
EDIT: ADDENDUM: I will also accept entries that are reviews about one of your least favorite games and why it is great. Like before, all positivity has to be legitimate.
Welcome to the review. the game is the mario. mario has no guns. score 0/10 guns
Dang, missed the Trine good deed contest because of work. I was just going to go "I'm an Eagle Scout" and win all 8 copies. Oh well, stupid work. My Warband is still broke too.
Drake you glorious git you! Just gifted me the Indie air pack, I didn't have any of those games at all so its gonna be so much fun! Hell of a surprise too. Had no idea anything was coming my way!
Enjoy the pack, you swell sunufagun. Enjoy the pack.
First and last time I ever try letting Steam update my video drivers. When it finished Catalyst said there was no control center installed and there were no 16:9 resolution options for my 16:9 monitor, so now I'm typing this is glorious giganto-font until the regular installer finishes.
My review of Kirby's Adventure on the NES and why it is a horrible game.
This game was released during the death throws of the NES. As a platformer it is detailed, and intricately designed, so that each jump, each hop, each little step is frought with danger. Every single enemy has a way of attacking over their head, jumping up at you, or at the very least walking into you. There are some areas you cant even jump high enough for.
But that is all alleviated by the ability to float and FLY THROUGH THE ENTIRE GAME. The entire challenge, nay, the entire dificulty of the game boils down to one semi difficult boss fight. ANd its in world 3. For the rest of the game, it is easy street. Sure there are hidden 100% goals to fight for, but over all the game is devoid of any real challenge.
In fact i would say this game was the first in a series of games that were dumbed down for a wide audience.
I would go so far to say that Kirby's Adventure was the DEATH OF HARDCORE GAMING.
Deus Ex is a bad game because it was released in June 2000, and the New York City skyline in the background doesn't have the World Trade Center in it, which means that obviously Warren Spector is really Osama bin Laden.

Ok first of all, I don't know if this is Final Fantasy 3 or VI - these Japanese people can't decide on a number. Second, where are my FMV cut scenes? Is that a parallax scrolling background?! These graphics are a joke. The story really isn't that great. The main character, TerraSabinEdgarCelesLockeCyanSetzerShadowRealmStragoLeoUmaroVicksWedgeKefkaMogGauGogo, has too many happenings at once for the player to actually care about. The combat is clicking words, then these blocky things do something. You then wait for the menu to come up again to click more words. You have to be quick though! By default these bad guys will attack even when you're selecting something. The computer cheats.
This game has too many characters, too many words, and only two octopus-on-girl scenes. 3/10
Well I am utterly failing to secure a copy of Metro 2033 today.
However, it's time for
Adytum's
Giggity-Giggity-Gooveaway
It's like Calvinball, there are simultaneously no rules and all the rules at the same time.
Right now the rule is to reply to this post and be a good person.
Oh and be interested in World of Goo.
I'm a good person because i'm your only friend. You may think you don't know me, but i've always been your best, only friend, everyone else in this thread? they hate you. And they have shifty eyes. Me on the other hand, i'll help you hide bodies.
I think the peggle orange box game is free for everyone. I'd try that and see if you like it before buying peggle.
Correct and correct. But anyone who doesn't like at least a little bit of Peggle clearly hates fun. I played through a fair chunk of the challenges after finishing the Adventure mode and I'm still waiting for Peggle Nights to come on sale so I can pick that up too
Also, Dirt 2 is on sale? FUCK YEAH!! Been wait for this all week.
Alan Wake. I was so hyped up about this game, but when it came out I was utterly disappointed, and didn't even finish the game, but I will tell you why it is great.
The light dynamic is great, first off, they replace the cross hairs with a flashlight which makes you feel more immersed into the game. WIth the flashlight you get to BURN away the shadows making them weak to your guns.
The story is well written with the lead character doing everything he can to get his wife back.
The sound track fit the game perfectly
The collectibles in the game (atleast the pages in the book) are worth finding it and make you actually WANT to find them, since they tell you more of the story.
I don't even know why I didn't like the game, I just couldnt get into it, I tried to many times, I WANTED to like it, I just didn't. It had all the elements for a great game, but just fell flat for me, seemed extremely repeatitve. I think it might one of the only xbox games I have bought that I haven't completed.
TDWH METRO 2033 CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED FOR NEW ENTRIES
If you posted but did not PM, or PM'd but did not post you have a few minutes to fix that.
As long as you can verify that your post or PM were before this posting, I will take it as an entry. Just place the appropriate post or PM to me or in the thread.
I'm tempted by the Indie Air Pack, but how good are the games in it (aside from Flotilla, which I know about), and how often are they played online?
altitude seems to have a pretty healthy population and is awesome. Plain sight and dogfighter both appear to be desolate wastelands online though. plain sight had about 30-ish people playing. dogfighter said it had 40ish but every server i joined was populated completely by bots so i'm thinking the number is closer to 0

I'm no English major, but I think you're being condescending.

There might be a delay in my posting of the winner as my wife has roped me into cleaning the house while my daughter is napping so I might be AFK.
But keep sending them to me and posting them here!

She's cool with it, but it was just funny. "Why are there so many charges over the past two days?"
You can't even pick up the guns that people drop
How dumb is that!
Enjoy the pack, you swell sunufagun. Enjoy the pack.
I'm not, was just confused why someone would emphasize a sum when it wasn't the sum.

sad thing about avp. i guess i can just buy 6 copies of indie air pack instead for $30 and gift that out
Peggle is definitely worth the extra money. Unless you hate fun with a passion.
Or you want to actually be productive.
