to close my night so I can go to bed so I can get to work tomorrow
Joe K for all the stupid shit you said in the stream after the main event, you've done something wonderful here and everyone involved deserves a big ole pat on the back
trus, klyka, hlprmnky, kedinik, and especially incontrol too
but most importantly the real hero behind this event was none other than me, so I'd like to take this time to acknowledge my hard work and vocal talent and inspiration that led to literally tens of dollars being donated. Congratulations Feels Good Man. Keep doing what you do.
Don't forget DMR, Sceptre, Stilts, HugeInJapan, PlatinumPlus, Effeh, zerg rush, SkyGheNe, Dhal, MNC Dover, and everyone else who helped with videos, art work, bumping threads, and organizing the event.
Thanks to the many thankless heroes who spammed the donation link in chat throughout the event, too, I know that helped a lot with bringing donations in.

I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.
$3,134 guys, great job. Sadly it was about 2am and I fell asleep in the lobby for the 3rd of the Bo5 but up to that point it was crazy hilarious. We have to do these again!

Yeah I underestimated the strength of what I was drinking, got totally fucked and dived into bed at the start of the 4th game in the Bo5, looking forward to vods of what I missed.

Didn't get that draft of my essay done either.
do you guys want the replays before trus can get the VODs up?
Although, iNcontrol is more than half the show, and you won't get that without the VODs
this was an AWESOME event. there are some suggestions though that have been said that i'll echo again
- Pick players in advance rather than trying to find suitable viewers to play
- Let's not oversaturate this and make it like some sort of bi-monthly event. An annual or bi-annual event would keep it from fizzling out with the fans.
- Next time, we should try to get some celebrity pros to play for charity. that'd be awesome. we could even have both a amateur diamond exhibition as well as a pro exhibition.
- For the love of God, Joe, we love you to death but don't try to commentate. In the future let's leave that for the hired casters.
it was a helluva lot of fun though. that macro/micro games should have been a Bo3 too. People seemed to love that idea and it's a shame we didn't get to see more of it.

Agreed on all counts. Plus, no offense to everyone else in involved, but EGinControl positively made the event. Everything else would not have been nearly as entertaining without his comments.

Think of it as the only selfish thing that i've done in the last two weeks. Please. The adrenaline pumping from the successful event was a crazy rush.

My messages swept against Joe's account like a tide trying to drown out the microphone, but alas it was in vain. My warriors fell, one by one, and Joe's wife laughed as the sun set to the west.
I think if anything, this should only be done once a year. Donations and viewers got a HUGE boost when iNControl offered to go 2v1 against the bronze players so that should be a staple. With iNControl seeming to have a good time and with his connections, I don't forsee any problems getting some even bigger names next time.
Either way, great show and good job to everyone involved. Maybe next time Joystiq and Kotaku will think this event is newsworthy...

Well, the "Rumble in the Bronze" name can still be used for more regular,non-charity events.
We can still do the big "around christmas time" charity event starring *insert awesome progamer here* too!
The best parts of the event were related to two things. Incontrol being awesome, and our bronze players being AWFUL ( ).
While obviously, if there was a next time we'd want to focus way more on shitty bronze players, something we also might want to consider would be show matches between pros. Something like a QxC vs Machine, or Liquid`Tyler vs Painuser or some such.
A pro showmatch would be cool but more cool would be something that puts pro against pro, but indirectly.
Ex. Since Inc seemed to handle two Bronzes pretty handily, maybe one pro could bet against the other on how many Bronzies they can take on in a match. Haven't thought out how it'd work exactly, but the goal of it would be to try to raise money for the pro's hospital of choice, with each pro betting against each other and raising the stakes to try to raise as much as possible for their own hospital.
Or, could also have one pro live coaching a Bronze player and another coaching his own Bronze player and see who wins :P

did you guys get any official recognition from Child's Play or G&T for this? pretty unprofessional if this doesn't get acknowledgment.
We have been listed under the "events" section on the official Child's Play website.
No word from PA though.
I'll ask again for a shout out. CP was very happy to list us on their page, and I'm sure that they'll be happy to see the donation amount.
Let me submit something to Kotaku and Joystiq, although, it would be nice to have VODs or something to point to. And I know that Trus is busy with school.
Maybe I'll try a press release... who knows, can't hurt.
Keep up the awesome work, 25 bucks for the kids

You need to get the VODs up for this with the links to donate. You'll get more views than you did during the stream. Promise.

I really like the "diamond macro/bronze micro" thing we tried for the first game, and I think it would be a lot of fun if we balanced the teams a little better. It's one of those things that requires some planning to get right, but I think there's a lot of potential in that game type. Bronze players wailing away with huge armies isn't something you see every day, and it's easy enough to keep the focus on the Bronze players (which is where it should be).
Live coaching would also be interesting, but it'd be hard to get the logistics worked out--who are we listening to, for instance? There'd be way too much chatter if both teams were broadcast. It might work if we had a third person to comment on the match.
anybody know the ETA on the vods? I want to watch incontrol make fun of me.
Probably in a week or two. Trus needs to manually upload them which is taxing on his connection. He also has a ton of work to do as his semester is wrapping up.
My classes wrap up (or at least me going to them) on Monday so my current plan is to get the editing done on Monday after I go Christmas shopping. The editing should be fairly quick and easy since I just need to cut the different games apart and maybe throw in some of the transitions that I didn't get to show during the stream.
Once that is done I should be able to upload them over night and hopefully be completely done on Tuesday so that I can start studying for my finals
I missed the show but I'm stoked for the VODs! Congratulations on your victory Joe! I had absolutely no faith in you whatsoever and you're making those poor kids cry in Iowa.

Iowa CHOP still gets 30%.
and, hlprmnky gets the blame. it should have been pushed to 5 games.

I think we could do an interesting mechanic for a pro vs pro match. Do a 2v2 match, with a pro and bronze on each team. The pros aren't allowed to attack the bronzers (except to defend their base).
So basically you've got bronzers trying to "help" their pro partner. I'm hoping for situations like the bronzer placing bunkers that block their partner, or putting forcefields that mess them up. Or rushing for mothership and vortexing their partners entire army.
And doig a BO3 for micro/macro would be fun so we could show more. Just the one game didn't take too long, I think we coulda had a lot more fun with it ;p
Alright, Hlprmnky and Joe, you guys have a goal. You must reach silver before the next Child's Play. That way we can have grudge matches as you claw your way up the ranks to diamond. I've even got a tagline ready and everything.
