So what are good Expert Pro Keys songs to start with besides Combat Baby? Many of the songs that looked interested jumped all the way to demon difficulty :P

I didn't get a chance yesterday, might try Medium Pro Keys over the weekend and see how it goes. Just have to finish Hall of Fame for the Expert Guitar career.

Also, there is one guy in the front of the audience for 90% of the shows that looks like an alien.

I think it's time to buy some more Microsoft fun bucks - between the Cash pack and now this they are going to get a bit of my money...

Haven't been playing much since we got the Kinect - most of our company wants to try that out instead - maybe we'll have to have a Rock Band night this weekend.

Another big bunch of songs. Here is the list of the recent songs for RBN officially available in-game since the last time. Colour coded for price convenience. (Example links included where available. * means it's not an 'in-game' chart. *** means BNS.)

Due to lack of some in-game charts, especially for The Waking Hours, they are NSFW.

    Metaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalpalooza!

Evile has provided us with a near-ten minute song.

    Auto-tune in the house!

I get a kind of Gary Hoey vibe from the Mystakin track. Well, a less complicated vibe, anyway. The bass mix seems off, though.

Sorry about the audio for The Waking Hours... Oh and hey! Female bassist? How very Pixies!

The Turrigenous song is causing some backlash for the guitar charts. The charter is Turrigenous and they decided to be more 'real' about it. Sux!

And another Jonathan Coulton song is coming. Probably in next Tuesday's update.

If you rate a song 1 star is it pretty much guaranteed to never show up when randomly picking songs and using party shuffle? I'm tired of people taking longer to look through songs than actually playing the game when we have a party, and was hoping I could get everybody to trust that terrible songs won't show up in party shuffle.

One lighter songs do not show up in random setlists. Unless you're playing a Road Challenge and there aren't enough songs to fill out the list.

Though it's not exactly full of keyboard, I really would've expected The Man Who Sold the World (the album) to be a big source of Bowie for Rock Band.

She Shook Me Cold would probably be one the more uncomfortable songs to sing with your family.

That's kind of the 'problem' with artists that have been around for a while. Eventually something gets left out. Whether or not a song would be good doesn't mean it was any easier to get.

Anyway, I was surprised I could find the version of Five Years that Fish did, so I present them both for comparision.

    *Well, sort of...

I just prefer the 'heavier' sound of the cover. The original is too weedy for my tastes.

I wanted some stuff from Labyrinth. :P

OK, so I ordered the MIDI adapter with the Squier.

Does this mean I'll be able to plug a keyboard in? I have literally no idea how keyboards work in this game, but I know they have a weird octave-shift thing. How will that all work with a RL keyboard?

I should be able to 'borrow' a KB from the music room at work no worries!

I think real keyboards get mapped from the farthest left key to the 20th one from the left.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdfh6w3dTLw

The colored bands correspond to ranges on the RB3 keyboard.

That songs starts out at about the middle of the keyboard.

When it shifts up and down, that's just shifting left/right on the keyboard itself. It's so they could show the keys more clearly but still have enough physical keys to make it feel more like an actual keyboard.

The shifting also only happens on Hard and Expert, and not all songs shift.

example of expert song that does not shift:

    Awesome thanks.

I mean the Strat & MIDI thing aren't shipping until April, but wondered if I'll be able to have a go with the keys.

The RB keys are quite expensive, figured it would be better to buy a proper (cheap) set from Yamaha or something. Or steal one from school...

All songs are charted for the right hand only. You can, if you wish, attempt to use your left. But you're better off just doing it 'correctly'.

So even in pro expert, if the actual song has parts for both hands (I'm just assuming there's such a song), you only play right hand?
