I'll have to go with Tam. The guy makes some damn good points about the films. Good or bad, the parody in the review I posted is histerical.
Also, I can't discount the significance of the new trilogy. Without them, there would be no KOTOR, and that means no SWTOR MMO... so I have to give it some credit.

I can agree with that to a point, but the way it was presented (i.e. with film, and presenting it in such an obvious manner) makes anyone who disagrees seem like a ponce.
For example the end of (im pretty sure its the 4th video) he has film of George Lucas on his take on special effects back in the day... while showing footage of his over the top sensory overload rediculous special effects. What a fucking idiot...
IDK, I thought it was funneh

The new trilogy has some decent bits, but unfortunately they're surrounded by really bad bits.
The problem was George Lucas had no-one to tell him, "Hey, you do realise your fucking this shit up right?"
I'm conflicted. I don't know what to say about Tron because it was both good and bad, but not mediocre. I'm tempted to write a full review, because there's a lot to be said about it.
EDIT: Mini-review, real spoilers:
Basically I'll say that the movie actually did have a very good story to tell, it's just that that's not the one that the movie decides to tell you. The mechanics and society of the Tron world are so incredibly interesting, but they're barely skimmed over. I really wanted the movie to explore more, give us look at the social dynamics of a completely digital world and how its society operates, but we never got the chance. I also wanted to know more about ENCOM, especially what the role of the guy Cillian Murphy was playing was since it seemed to be building up osme sort of plot point there which was never even mentioned after the opening.
And even though the main storyline was extremely cheesy, its subtleties were actually really well executed. The pretty blatant christian allegory that ran through the film (Flynn was god, Clu was the devil) would normally have been a deal-breaker for me, but was actually given some depth by the fact that the film went out of its way to show that humans in general and more specifically Flynn (and therefore, also god) was imperfect, and its a shame this wasn't explored more. The fact that it was exploring the fact that humans are now almost capable of being god was also a really interesting theme, although it's diffcult to say whether these things were intentional, or whether I'm just reading too much in to it. There was also the support for open-source software, which isn't something that's regularly tackled in the world of big-budget movies, and a small part of me was very happy to hear.
In some ways, it was also a much more restrained movie than a lot of blockbusters, which is a nice thing to see. I'd suggest going to see it, but the visuals remain the strongest selling poin. The narrative might be cliche, but if you can look in to the details there's actually something really interesting in there.

Out of curiosity, Flay, have you seen the original TRON?
I havnt seen the new Tron but i saw the original and thought it was rubbish. I'll probably watch the new one once it comes out on foxtel. Flays reaction to the film is similar to how i always felt about Blade Runner. Great setting and concept, but poor story choices and execution. *the book was pretty good, but almost completely different.
If you don't want to do something with your girlfriend, speak up and say so
Don't drop "maybe"s here and there when you know ultimately your decision will be a no.
We understand if you don't want to come to our mom's house for dinner.
But when we start to plan around maybes, we have to plan AGAIN around the no
It's frustrating, stressful and a billion times more disappointing than if you just speak up right away.
Huh. So the shot showing the death of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace is eerily similar to a shot showing the death of a redneck henchman at the end of Blind Fury.
Blind Fury, for those who don't know, is a movie with Rutger Hauer as a blind swordsman/Vietnam vet fighting drug dealers in Reno- but because it's the 80's, there's also an obnoxious entitled 80's kid taking up a lot of screentime with terrible father-figure/son bonding horseshit. Also Sho Kosugi shows up for like 5 minutes in there as a nameless, characterless swordsman wearing black.
I mention this, because it would explain a lot about the Star Wars prequels if it turned out George Lucas had been watching a lot of movies like Blind Fury prior to making them.

My cousin and I spent the whole thing rolling on the floor and he really likes the new trilogy.
And no, the old trilogy isn't some kind of masterful bit of film making but the new trilogy really makes it seem like one
but holy hell the prequels are all style and no substance

Its absurdest and deranged?
tam: aim?
are you still going to be up in, say, 40 minutes?

I saw this trailer in a theatre before something; I can't think of what it could have been but maybe Ponyo, though that seems too long ago?
It's getting released this month, here, I guess. I hope it's a widish release. It looks excellent.
