People not moving out of the flame breath. We finally got to the point where I was calling them out before they got breathed on because it's too hard to read the chat log for 2 of the people. We did have to use an extra 2-3 gongs though because our priest was slower on the lifegrip than I had hoped in pulling me away from him in the last 2-3 seconds.
We still had 1 extra at the end of the fight.

Happy: Bastion done, all that is left is Nef and Al'Akir.
Happier: This expansion has been sooooo laid back for us/me. Since BC we always been all about "server first". Now, we could careless. We know we can do it, but why rush it?
Happy/hate: Didn't get a chance to do my vday boss. I had bought a new book last night, and forgot.
Happy: Finally got the damn Toxic Wasteling! I don't have to do the event bosses anymore!
Happy: Hit Exalted with my guild.
Hate: Another guild had a BOE epic staff one of my healers wanted. Got in contact with them, offering trades of the BOE epics we had and weren't using. The other guild was discussing it and looking like the trade would happen. Until the guy who was holding on to the staff found out who my co-tank was. He hates my co-tank due to real life drama relationship issues from the past, and said he couldn't bring himself to do anything that would in any way help my co-tank. So the deals off. Fuck.
Hope: Counter-offered to steal every single tank drop in my raid and make my co-tank cry, in hopes that will apease the dude with a grudge and the staff my healer wants.

Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
Happy: Second night of raid attempts with an actual group makeup (first time we had 2 healers and plenty of green items, I'm not counting it :P), Magmaw down. I haven't been the one reading strats, but apparently most strats on Magmaw don't mention swapping tanks? We sure as hell did (10 man with 3 healers, 2 tanks), because I nearly shat my pants when we were just leaving me on Magmaw and "73,357" rolled down my screen as I crumpled to a heap.
Hoooo boy: Rift looks verrry interesting. Quad spec? Mix and match entire talent trees? I can roll one character and it feels like rolling about 12? Oh dear.

There's a -50% armour debuff applied after mangle. It's quite possible to heal through it, many guilds only use a single tank. However, dual-tanking can make life a bit easier on the healers... providing you're not causing other issues by going that way (DPS shortage, possibly.)

I think Atramedes is the perfect Raid boss. Fucking impossible for morons to do, but the easiest boss for good players. You can also carry up to 3 people through the fight if your team of 7 is SUPER good. That last bit though, requires the derps to not get anyone else killed during sonic breathe.

To be Honest, if you NEED that extra DPS to kill Magmaw, you aren't going very far past Magmaw. Do the fight as it is intended IMO.

I think it's probably the best *execution* fight of those I've played through thus far this tier. I think Netherspite's my favourite of all-time, though.

Yeah, after I got plastered like that, we did the tank swap (we were already using a tank to 'kite' the worms anyway, so why not just swap?). That the debuff lasts 2 minutes would seem to indicate to me that a tank swap is not only reasonable, but probably intended.
Out of interest, is there any Word of God on the subject? The fact the debuff exists - and lasts, I believe, exactly the period between mangles - suggests to me that it's at least meant to be an interesting choice between single or dual-tanking it.

Who cares what some stupid crab thinks.
Also intended to be single-tanked: Chimaeron
Grounding Totem absorbs Blackout. 2 Shamans in a 10 man negate that mechanic. Intended way to kill them.
You are confusing "Intended" with "Possible"

really?
Because we were having some small trouble with blackout in raid last night. We had to set up a rotation to pop cooldowns and such. I will let our shaman know.
edit: The bigger issue is that I think the idea that you should stick to an "intended" method is silly. Whatever works best for you and your raid is the best method.
Whoa. Duly noted. Although Blackout does have the neat side-effect of ensuring that people are close enough to Valiona to quickly get behind her when she breathes.

Don't yell at me if it has been hotfixed.
Honestly, I like the aforementioned side-effect anyway, so I'll probably stick with our usual tactics.
I saw in some patch notes that they fixed that. This was a decent while ago, probably a hotfix before 4.0.6.
Edit: Found it ~ Jan 18th
Valiona's Blackout can no longer be absorbed by Grounding Totem or reflected. Its healing absorption effect has also been increased for 10-player normal difficulty.

It can be as long as someone else in your raid can be crit immune or be healed for over 30k hp every melee. He's slow but it's safer to 2 tank it. It's not a DPS burn until the last phase and even then as long as your raid is above 10k you're fine unless they pop their defensive cooldowns because they're fat fingered.
Magmaw is intended to be single tanked, mangle doesn't do a ton of damage if your healers aren't focused on healing people standing in avoidable damage.

He is talking about a single tank taking break and double attacks, and just being healed like whoa.
As far as Magmaw, I disagree. It is not just coincidence that the Debuff lasts the perfect amount of time to allow it to fall off shortly after the second Mangle. If it was intended to be Single Tanked, then the Debuff would last much longer or wouldn't exist.
Magmaw definitely seems like it's designed as a two tank fight, the armor debuff just isn't a big enough deal to force you to do it (even for my poor bear, whose mitigation gets fucking demolished by it.)
I do wish they'd stop him from randomly meleeing people just before chains go down, though.

As a melee with awesome aoe, magmaw might be my favorite fight so far. Except for maybe ascended council. I don't know why, but I love that fight for everything that's going in at once.
I actually think they nailed the 'fun' aspect of this raiding tier on the nose. With the hard exception of nefarian. I haven't attempted the fight yet, but I am not looking forward to it

You use 2 tanks, thats how you stop him from randomly smashing somebody's face in. You could just have people GTFO out of melee range right before a Mangle, and stay out till he is up hitting the tank. But then you risk a Pillar of Flame in the melee group.
I swear there are none on my Alliance server nor my battlegroup. I've lost count how many BG's I've tried to find them in, how long I've circled Dal and Org. I've even made horde characters just to do /who.

using a second tank is not what I would call 'completely negating' the spare melee swing. I am aware you can use two tanks.
it doesn't seem like he's supposed to be doing it, is my point. He only ever seems to swing once, before going into his 'try to throw off the chains' animation, which leads me to believe it's a swing timer issue, like ignus used ot have back in the day

You can have a friend make a troll rogue on your server, and meet him in Durotar.
I plan to later tonight when folks are online.
It's still really irritating.
99% of the time I don't care anymore about there being no neutral hub city in WoW that is active. It's just when these "do X to Y class of Z race" achievements pop up for the holidays it is all ugh.

I got that achievement over a couple days by visiting the daily quest hubs: Therazane's Throne in Deepholm, Thundermar Village in Twilight Highlands, and the Crown Company wagons in Uldum.
I decided to try org one more time after my daughter went down for a nap and a troll rogue was hanging out by the main AH mailbox. I managed to divebomb suicide the two characters I needed it on and got the meta.
Yay. Or something.
That's 6 characters for the love fool meta this holiday; right after doing the lunar festival on those same 6 characters last week.
I'm really looking forward to the long break between the vday and easter holidays in-game.

1. Survival hunter used a mix of steady and cobra shots. Don't know what else he did wrong, but he only pulled 6k dps.
2. Arcane mage used 0 Arcane Blasts. Yeah, I don't know how he pulled that off either.
3. Ret pally, with a whopping 2.4k dps, didn't even have a goddamn seal.
That was fun.
