Can someone explain the stored levels thing?

is it a visable stat? Or is it some hidden bonus.
stored levels is how many levels you have placed under the transmigration stat.

so lets say you transmigrate at 100, you have now stored 100 levels.

this info is visible to you when you transmirate, and it is directly affecting stats,. esentailly more stored levels is a good thing. BUT you should transmigrate only when they are a decent level. dont go transmigrating level 20's, because sored level 100's are stronger then stored level 20's
    ( yes it keeps track)

You could always capture a level 9999 nekomata and power through the extra stages, in Disgaea 2 anyway.

    w00t! and such.

I just got my (first?) Yoshitsuna. I'm still about 300-500 levels from being able to take down the final optional boss without using captured monsters, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Right now I have to go level up my new toy.

Also, it seems like you finally hit a wall somewhere around level 2000. At that level, Cave of Ordeals 3 only gives about 10-15 levels per run even with a lvl 300 statistician and 20 "stronger enemies" bills passed, so continuing to grind that way is pretty impractical. I'm actually pretty glad that this game seems to have a soft cap, since it appears that I'm actually going to have to help my other characters catch up in order to challenge the aforementioned boss and clear the Yoshitsuna.

I'll probably put another 20-30 hours into this and then move on to Phantom Brave. Something tells me I should probably shower and go outside at some point, too.

I think there are actually too many in Disgaea 2, at least for someone like me, since I hate ditching a main character. I didn't have much trouble getting myself to get rid of Hanako after I released she could pretty much only buff, but that still leaves only four slots for me to play with, two of which pretty much have to be a healer (I would assume that Flonne can serve as a healer in 1, which would free up a spot in that game) and mage, and the other two I've filled up with a meleer and a thief. Any suggestions on how to make myself give up another character so I can level up a monster or something, and which character would be best to drop?

There are 11 non-generic characters in Disgaea 1, counting Maderas and Hoggmeiser (who are basically stupid filler characters).

    I like using them...

in #2 its important to have felonies on your characters and lovers in your items because felonies improve your EXP rate and lovers have different bonuses for each character. (like improved dmg or better countering)

some people dont know that you can [spoiler:41d75543b8] toss a totem pole into the dark court gate so that everyone gets felonies [/spoiler:41d75543b8]

so achieve some of those illegal stats! and send your crew through a weapon, and while your there improve the weapon, visit the secret rooms, and subdue the specialists!

Disagea 2 is more item world centric than #1 IMHO

Disgaea super-secret final boss spoilers (just in case)
[spoiler:f994cceabe]OK, so Baal was a pussy. I was expecting some kind of ridiculously epic battle, and after stealing his gear he went down in three hits (properly buffed, of course).

Then I saw Prinny Baal, whose stats are about six times that of regular Baal. It is not easy to defeat something that does more than five times your strongest character's HP worth of damage in a single hit. Something tells me I'm going to be at this for a while.

Time to finish leveling my Yoshi.[/spoiler:f994cceabe]

Maderas is decent when you first acquire him, since he has pretty decent movement and attack growth for that stage of the game.

Has anyone ever tried an all-prinny run, secret bosses and all? I would imagine the pain would be something akin to stitching the Old Testament into your scrotum with a rusty screw, but it would be pretty funny.

I started a Prinny only NewGame+ but only made it two chapters before deciding that the "dood!"s needed to stop.

Actually pulling it off would be the videogame equivalent of 755. The accomplishment would stand for thirty years until some Gameshark using douchebag makes a run, and blames the media when all his saves get corrupted just as he's about to take on the last boss.

I'm still chugging along in the game. I've been through the item world three times now, two for swords and once for a spear. Laharl is level 12, and I have a bunch of characters started. I'm only 3 or so maps into Episode 2.

Yeah, I really gave up at about the point you're at. I never did do the last boss. Between the slower leveling, having to make Majins to be make things more efficient, it kinda lost the appeal to me.

I thought this was the one thing that D2 did much better than D1 was making generic characters more balanced and making high level grinding not as completely mind numbing as it was in D1.

I really wish we werent getting port for the PSP. Well I in general just wish every decent game for it wasnt a port.

New Disgaea for PSP or DS please! Strategy games are way to rare for portables, where the action fits perfectly with the need to stop playing at any moment nature.

theoretically, if we do get disgaea psp in america (this is purely hypothetical, mind you), there would be a ton of new content. so much so that, while it wouldn't be new, there would be plenty of goodies to entice even the most jaded Disgaea fan.

Flonne can be a very effective magic user because she's quite durable compared to the first tier mage classes while having the same INT and staff mastery growth, and also has decent movement/throw ranges. She becomes outclassed in the mid-game by galaxy magi/skulls and the endgame by majin, but she probably remains effective longer than any other unique character save Gordon.
