what are you doing with the second one?
    seems very normal and clinical

I think that was the problem they had with it mostly

that it was too plausible in the real world?

that's what I liked most about it!

yeah I was reading it going
    man this is really cool

but it seemed a little too inside the realm of possibility
as in, if you could do some deep biochemical and genetic engineering, you could actually make that creature
and it would devastate shoreline populations

but the SCPs, or at least the ones I've read, are disconnected from or outright defy our perception and knowledge of reality

yeah I was reading about parasites one night and found out about Toxoplasma gondii.
    T. gondii infections have the ability to change the behavior of rats and mice, making them drawn to, rather than fearful of, the scent of cats. This effect is advantageous to the parasite, which will be able to sexually reproduce if its host is eaten by a cat.[11] The infection is highly precise, as it does not affect a rat's other fears such as the fear of open spaces or of unfamiliar smelling food.

Studies have also shown behavioral changes in humans, including slower reaction times and a sixfold increased risk of traffic accidents among infected males[12], as well as links to schizophrenia including hallucinations and reckless behavior[13]. A study of 191 young women in 1999 reported higher intelligence and guilt proneness in Toxoplasma-positive subjects.[

oh hey, we looked at these in our Microbio lab

    I also had an idea
it's not creepy at all though
    just sort of useful

    1. Sentient stone
    2. nearly weightless to those it likes
    3. ~2 metric tons to those it doesn't
ergo: allows those (other sentient beings) it likes to visit untold destruction on their enemies, or otherwise generate vast amounts of energy

the real kicker is prevalence of infection
Up to one third of the world's human population is estimated to carry a Toxoplasma infection.[3] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that overall seroprevalence in the United States as determined with specimens collected by the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) between 1999 and 2004 was found to be 10.8%, with seroprevalence among women of childbearing age (15 to 44 years) 11%.[4]

Ok, I've skipped basically this entire thread so I don't know how much drift has gone on, but I do have a kinda creepy story. So one morning around 3 AM, I jolt awake and I think somebody is in my house. I was so certain somebody was there I was kinda trapped in bed, being a coward. I mean my hearts going nuts, sweating, basically totally wigged out. So I eventually get back to bed after a cursory search and didn't find anybody. I wake up and go to work, and at around 10 that morning, my mom calls and tells me my dad died overnight. He'd been in the VA hospital for about 6 months at that time, so it wasn't a suprise he died, but damn, after the phone call, I thought about the person in house that morning, and got even more wigged out.

Pretty much. I know he had a lot of guilt about how he dealt with my sister and I after the divorce ( example: I didn't know what he looked like until I was 15). So I don't know, I don't normally wake up in the middle of the night like that. I'm not a light sleeper, so I have no idea what it could have been. I just thought it was amazingly timely for those two things to happen as they did.

SCP-354, for instance. I think it's my new favorite, I quite enjoyed reading the exploration log.

    oh man the redpool

SCP-093 is also amazing because of the exploration logs.

the last log is so confusing I only had a vauge idea of what was happening

honestly they should have ended it with "suddenly all the fucking flesh shit disappeared into a huge fucking hole it just fucking disappeared what the fuck where is that shit"

use the other five logs you wrote to imply that the stuff is a hivemind, don't wait until "OH HEY HUGE FLESH HEAD AHH" to say it is all connected
