kind of worried about how involved I'm getting into WoW
But god it scratches so many itches simultaneously.
None of my friends are available to talk or hang out, so I talk with my guildies! I go nuts if I sit alone for too long undistracted, WoW is full of distractions! It's genuinely fun (for now) and there's lots to explore.
But oh god I can't go down the rabbit hole of addiction again.
Nrrrrgh.
Just make sure you set up time to do other stuff away from WoW.
Like, I'm going to CostCo tomorrow with friends and then a birthday lunch Sunday! And probably Star Wars tonight with the gf, because she has never seen it.
Although, honestly, I'm 84 already and will probably be able to hit 85 if I play for a few hours tonight. Or today, instead of sitting at work on my ass, getting paid to read the forums with no class... >.>

Everytime I find myself about to be amazed by that I also remember I missed avatar entirely.

I'm 84 as well and was thinking of hitting 85 as well but eh, had enough WoW for the day I think, gonna take a break. Not sure what I'm going to do in the evening as I feel a little sick and I don't think my friends are up to anything.

I have a family function on Saturday but other than that my schedule is deserted
My friends are either students with harder degrees with me who are on their s eventh paper before a bunch of exams
Or retail workers preparing for Christmas.
No one wants to hang out as far as I can tell
Also I'm broke because my boss is late on my pay
Otherwise I'd be more aggressive in inviting people out
But no one is exactly pounding my door down and I am going insane just sitting posting in [chat] and checking my e-mail

I was addicted to WoW right up to the point that my guild was fighting Archimonde on Mt. Hyjal and Mother in BT.
We spent soooo many failed rounds on those bosses, and when Lich King came out people stopped wanting to do the raids and level instead... and then the godawful bottleneck... and I just gave up.
But yeah, many many months of my life are a blur as a result of the WoW.

the problem with "my social calendar is empty so WoW is my substitute" is that you never have any incentive to get out and create a healthier social life

Ah, that sucks. Hope you feel better!
Yeah, most of my 10 man group is already 85. I'll probably be the last. My raid leader hit it after 27 hours, but he had like 2-3 days off from work.
I find the trick with anything addictive is to just have a set of things that you will not compromise no matter what for it. Like, take WoW for example. I'll never play WoW over hanging out with friends, or fencing, or certain other activities.
For drinking I never drink alone, for another example.

I'm so fuckin' excited
I bought it, though. I was sure I'd play it. Got to level 6, and then I don't remember what happened after that.
