A thread about moving!
Metzger MeisterIt Gets Worsebefore it gets any better.Registered Userregular
This thread is about moving. I'm moving up to Spokanistan, Washington in about six months to live with my dad and be a dirty goddamn PNW hippie savage. Livin. The. Dream.
But I bounced around some as a child, of course. Ely to Reno, Reno to Pt. Angeles, Pt. Angeles to Spokane, Spokan here. Not as bad as some people've had it certainly, but still!
Moving is no fun. Who's got big moves planned? If you could, where would you move to?
It is just the worst thing. Especially if you have to drive 8 hours to a different city with all your crap, knowing that the painful physical labour you just finished has to be done all over again.
I just finished moving to another apartment in the same city. My brothers and I huffed hundreds of pounds of junk up three flights of rotten stairs in this old character apartment that hasn't finished renovating, and probably won't until we can finish organizing the new place.
I used to not have a lot of stuff, so moving wasn't so bad, but I'm starting to acquire a lot of crap, so I'm hoping I don't have to move for a while.
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

Lived in the San Fernando Valley all my life, but I did move from one neighborhood and then to another and then to another. Not fun because I'd had my own room, and then I had to share a single room between me and my mom and dad and sister. Then after too long (at least 2 years) we moved back into where we originally lived the very first time.
This thread interests me because my family anticipates I will continue to live in the valley. But maybe I won't. Maybe I will like some other place better. I don't know.

I just really think it's time for a huge change. I sat down with this girl i've been kind of pursuing lately and basically laid it all on the table today, because I made this decision and I'd like to really spend some time with her before I leave. And she was stoked! All happy and said she felt the same way. This is rad. I just don't know what to do now.
anyway yeah packing up little things is the worst, like the very last part of packing where you're combing the house for shit.
One day I want to be important enough that when I get a job I can negotiate moving expenses into my being hired.
And I will hire movers.
And it will be their goddamn problem.

I have only moved house one and a half times in my life.
I grew up in the same house until I was 18
then we packed a bunch of shit into storage and we lived in a rental place for a few months while our house was being built
then we moved into the house and I'm still there.
I wanna move interstate, but like, leave most of my shit here and buy all new shit. Take my consoles, my computers, my clothes and shoes, a little framed art, my TV and stereo and shit, and all my hockey gear and that's it
depends on your dream
The American dream?
I wouldn't be surprised.
There are people living successfully in every other town.

and spokane actually doesn't really seem that bad!
at least it's markedly more cosmopolitan and cultural than cheyenne.
My family moved from San Antonio, TX to Williamsburg, VA in August. It kind of sucks having to drive the whole way. It sucks worse when you have to then leave your family and return to an empty house.
But I am going to visit Williamsburg on the 18th and for almost a month, all will be well!
I think I've moved about 15 times. Though some of those involved living in Juneau for 6 months, then back down to Washington. Dad being a rep and all in Alaska.
It's pretty nice being able to go back and forth between both states. I have friends and family in both states which makes living in either more appealing.
One day when I rule the world I will have houses in both states.

Taking off for college and getting my own place has been a hell of an experience.

it's taking way too long because other shit keeps coming up but i need to get off my ass and do it
If I don't end up staying in NYC afterward I'll probably go to Seattle
For a while I wanted to life in the Valley or some other swanky part of California but now I...don't..want that thing

I have packing down to an art and if I had to I could move out of my apartment with my furniture and everything in a standard sized Ranger.

Let me tell you, even though I still did a partial self-move, not having to drive my shit cross country made this latest trek awesome
Though I still have a storage space full of crap that needs to get moved in, I'm happy to be settled for a bit
I am going to eat so many fucking tacos

I'm excited
Lived in four states, two countries and at least a dozen different domiciles
Such is the life of a transient, good for nothing 20-something
(shitty)
Which I think is a lot.
Satans..... hints.....
