So I finally paid off my credit card, and naturally that means I need to buy more shit. So I bought a Red Wii bundle. I scored Silent Hill on the cheap, Marumasa and Dead Space Extraction.
I want games like Kirby, Donkey Kong and Mario Galaxy but they're too expensive at the moment. I'm looking for Wii treasures, no genre is off limits here. Hook a brutha up!
Yo...
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
Buy Little King's Story. It's dirt cheap, the best game on the Wii that isn't Mario Galaxy, and will make you a better person for playing it.
Also get Sin and Punishment: Star Successor/Successor of the Skies, which should have dropped in price quite a bit by now. Best of the many rail shooters on the system.
Others to consider (none outright essential, but all enjoyable):
Boy and his Blob
HOTD : Overkill
Klonoa
Wario Land
No More Heroes
Mad World
Trauma Centre
Zack and Wiki
As far as budget priced games go, off the top of my head: Klonoa,The Munchables, No More Heroes, Madworld, A Boy and His Blob, RE4: Wii Edition, Rabbids in Time, and definitely check out Excitebots.
Damn, I forgot about A boy and His Blob! I'll make that my next purchase down the line then.
Thanks for the input guys! Also, if I really like Resident Evil, would the Chronicles games be worth it?
Well - yes, because they're crammed with fanservice. They redo Resis 0-3 in abbreviated form, with fully polygonal environments, except fill it with more shooting and no puzzles (but keep a suprising amount of the atmosphere). And they have a few 'canon' extra chapters dealing with Wesker-related stuff, and a huge amount of unlockable files/pictures etc.
For the sheer variety and amount of content, I hear you should give Trauma Team a try - they still haven't released it in PAL territories, but it seems to combine all that's best about the previous games and just adds more stuff. More genres, characters, plot, things to do - everything.
Little King's story is indeed excellent and ultra-cheap - although you may get overwhelmed a few hours in with all the options. Completely charming though.
Also - don't know what price this is going for, but Metroid Prime 3 is definitely worth experiencing, and I'm fairly sure will be cheap due to the Trilogy being released (and it being ancient).
Dead Space Extraction is rad as hell! Check out CAG (cheapassgamer.com) for a ton of great deals on various games; Wii games in particular are prone to either staying at full-price forever or dropping like rocks in price pretty quickly, so some careful shopping can save you a ton.
I've seen Trauma Team on sale a lot recently, and that's one of my favorite Wii games in recent memory; the action-y gameplay of the Trauma Center games with almost Phoenix Wright-like adventure-game sequences, really well done. I think RE: Darkside Chronicles can be had for pretty cheap too—I scored it for $10 at Target's clearance racks, so some investigation might be worth your while.
Just because I never see it mentioned in any Wii threads, I'm going to add Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. If you like SRPGs, it's a great game.
As a bonus, if you never played Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on the Gamecube, you may be able to pick that up cheap and play it first (as Radiant Dawn continues the story).
This. It's quite possibly the best value on the system, and playing with the Wiimote/nunchuck controls are worth picking up the package for even if you've played through all of the games numerous times before.
MadWorld, Sin and Punishment 2, RE4, Zack and Wiki, and Okami are all fantastic titles that can be found for under $20 new (half of those can be found for under $10 new, check Amazon and Newegg). I maintain that MadWorld is one of the best games on the system, and I heartily recommend it in every Wii recommendation thread.
I really enjoyed Nights: Journey of Dreams, but I never played much of the original. Many have claimed it wasn't as good as the original, but as someone relatively new to the series I found it quite enjoyable. It's really cheap these days, so unless you just absolutely can't find any enjoyment in the title you'll probably get your money's worth.

Castle Shikigami III is $10 everywhere you can find it, tops.
I'd really recommend picking up a Gamecube controller and memory card. A lot of the best Wii games don't drop in price much, but there's plenty of cheap gaming to be found in the GC library now. Heck, I saw Metroid Prime for 3 bucks used at a gamestop-like store a while ago.
I'm in a similar boat to the OP, except I haven't actually purchased the Wii yet (I'm waffling between a Wii and a PS3 w/move...).
What other "stuff" do I need to get with a Wii? Recharger stuff, rubbery cases, extra remotes, etc? The only thing I know I need is a component cable...
Rechargers are hit or miss, personally I just go for a really good eight pack of rechargables and a good recharger.
I hate the condoms as it doesn't have the same tactile feel.
I'd go with two remotes baseline. Actually does the Wii come with two right now? If it doesn't you could get flingsmash with the fancy new Wii Remote in it.
If you like quirky games, definitely check out No More Heroes. It's far from perfect, and it's definitely a love-it-or-hate-it game, but it's incredibly bold in what it does. I'd easily describe it as my favorite game for the system, the console generation, and maybe even of all time.
I always recommend Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Not everyone likes DBZ but it has some awesome motion controls. I don't think there are any other games that have the same style of motion controls. I don't know the price of the game, but I can't imagine it still being expensive.

When I think about great Wii games, 95% of the top shelf Nintendo franchises come to mind. The other 5% are first-party "Wii _____" titles like Wii Music.
My Wii gets used mostly for the Virtual Console and Wiiware, I don't have any recommendations really, I have enjoyed playing the games I wanted to when I was younger, but just missed the chance. Look for some of those.
SO I just checked with Amazon. Delivery estimate is this Friday. Wii arrived in Orlando this morning. I live about an hour outside of Orlando... WTF USPS?
Can't wait for the Wii to get here! I'm gonna play so much Wii Party!
Not really

I've heard good things about Red Steel 2. I've not played it, but it's one of my most-wanted.
Of course, I'm into the "East meets Wild West" theme, so your mileage may vary.
I enjoyed Ghostbusters: The Video Game on there. It's the only version with 2P co-op in story mode, if I'm not mistaken.
Excite Truck and Excitebots: Trick Racing are both good racing games. I'd also personally recommend Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing if you're the kind who might feel Mario Kart Wii is too cheap.
New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was a lot of fun. I adored the GameCube original with the bongos, but I loved this version as well. It was also the one of the two versions I was actually able to beat.
Wario Land: Shake It!! is a lot of fun, and looks gorgeous. If you like picking up every item you can get in the Castlevania games and checking out their amusing descriptions, there is plenty of that in this game as well.
On WiiWare, Konami's ReBirth series is good, and there is also Mega Man 9, 10, and Cave Story. Plus, Fluidity sounds neat, and there's a version of Dr. Mario, if that's your thing.

Wario Shake is pretty awesome as well.
Do you enjoy lightgun shooters? If so they're worthwhile for the budget price. Make sure you pick up a Perfect Shot though. :P

I'm most excited for Marumasa and Dead Space. And of course, New Super Mario Bros.!
Wii most likely wont arrive for a whole week though
Target has them on firesales clearance for 12.00. :^:

HUNTER.
TRI.
I just bought it and it feels like I'm playing WoW on the Wii. It's so fucking addictive.
I definitely need to give it another try. I bought it at launch for the CCPro but only played the game itself for a few hours.

Yup pretty much. I've noticed that Trauma Team has dropped siginificantly in price lately, I'd also recommend that.
Same here. I really want to jump back in soon.
