“Biutiful” star Javier Bardem, will be enjoying a warm holiday season in Los Angeles where their bundle of joy will be born.

holy shit this is the most dickish sentence i have ever re-oh fox news

Wait, are you saying it's dickish because they're implying something with the word "Biutiful"?

Because that's the name of a Spanish film he's starring in.

I think there's a fine line between saying that her actions weren't the best and calling her "stupid" or "dumb."

It's absurd to label her, as an individual, "dumb" because she was ignorant of something (the best method of dealing with her situation) and acted out of a sense of altruism.

As far as whether it's dumb or heroic or both to do something that seems pointless in hindsight in a deadly situation, I think it also is highly contingent on the circumstances. If someone's drowning and there's no one else nearby able to help, then the person who can barely swim jumping into the water to try to save them is at least trying to help when other help isn't available. Now, if there are better trained/equipped people already helping with the rescue, like rescue divers, then yeah it would be stupid for some onlooker to just jump into the water to try and help out. And that's what I think sets her apart from someone just blatantly being stupid. At that point in time, there was no one else there to help them and she was trying to prevent the loss of life. It was a ballsy move, and it probably wasn't a rational move, but I can't fault her for doing it. Props to her for trying to stop the fucker.

I think most people (me for certain) were applying dumb to her actions.

It was not a blanket statement about her mental capacity.

I think it's a little silly to qualify comments on a videogame forum so severely. I mean, sure, some people probably honestly think this way about everything. But for most people these aren't the pronounced summations of rigorous examination. It's shorthand bs-ing. And the people who are sincerely cold and lacking empathy aren't about to be swayed by your bitching. You know that.

But this wasn't a robbery over goods. This is a crazy guy who is spouting off things that seem to imply his only interest is harm. There's the potential to reason with the guy, but it's hard to assume it's a default option. If she wanted to jump in, she just needed to find a nearby fire extinguisher and hit him with that instead.

The one thing I think we can all agree on is that if everyone there had been issued a fully automatic assault rifle at the age of 12 and were obligated by law to carry it at all times, this never would have happened, and nothing bad would ever happen again. Compulsory 2nd Amendment for all!

Well I mean, no injuries is a straight up miracle, that is not how it should have gone down. In a normal scenario, that supervisor at least is dead, and maybe that other guy he shot at.

Someone would have done that quick draw thing from the movies and shot the gun out of his hand before he could pull the trigger.

Then the marshal would have rode up on his horse and took the man to the pokey.

That is not in any way to say that I agree people should have been packing heat, just that the fact that no one was hurt is not really a factor in this hypothetical scenario. The guy got off shots at basically point blank range. There should have been casualties.

Personally, I think that adding civilians with guns into that mix would actually have a higher probability of more casualties.
