Well to be fair Dave's making a choice for himself not someone else
and, assuming that he is in fact the weird super dreamself, he's doing what he needs to do in order to ensure a stable time loop
Both of these statements are technically true where the Vriska/John/Johncorpse situation is concerned as well!
Vriska tricked John into making a choice that led him to his death. She's no more innocent than someone who gives a person poison and says "here's your drink."
I figure John could have made that choice without being tricked
Die and ascend or fight Noir and lose, dooming the timeline and all of your friends

it is difficult to see this coming from vriska, but she might have just wanted to spare him the worry. or from her perspective she probably felt like john didn't need to know
but even Rose lied to John about the Tumor so that he wouldn't have to be worried

Dang. I had this whole little 'thing' playing through my head earlier, of the kids and their sacrificial tables (obviously Rose was exempt). What I imagined for Dave is pretty much what is happening.

Maybe Dave is unable to go through with it and that's why he can't keep up with John
If it's a stable timeloop he's forced to go through with it, because he knows he already did it.
at the same time though dreamselves can break a few rules with regards to time travel and causality, so who knows
and also, we don't know where Feltsuit Dave is chronologically. Long-sleeve record Dave is the most future that we know of but we also haven't established exactly when most of the Daves are from
if Feltsuit is even further in the future then there's no paradox if he doesn't kill him
I mean he hates his real body because it sucks, he loves dreaming, and he Flarps with a character whose class is the one where you have to grind forever to make it useful at high levels
