I think when an opening instills a little panic in you it's a lot better.
Like, while I love New Vegas a lot, I think the beginning to Fallout 3 with the hurried escape from the Vault and everyone shooting at you suddenly and oh god where the fuck do I go was much better than just "you got shot, set up your stats, go do whatever now."

I really hope in Mass Effect 3, if I can't side with the reapers, I can convince them to wipe out a bunch of alien species before capping the main bad in the back of the head
i really like the starting atmosphere of ME1
I mean it definitely has some pacing issues
but the whole thing seemed a lot more cinematic, and I loooooove the music
also i really preferred the more intense RPG skills/items stuff
i adore collecting weapons and armor and stuff and going from ME1 to ME2 with its like, 5 weapons is kind of depressing to a packrat

on the other hand it was awesome to me
they took out the one part of the game I didn't like!
I'd prefer they just stuck with ME2's system but I'll be content if they manage to find a happy medium for 3
I like to have the calm before the storm sometimes
did you really need to start on board the normandy? start with shepard's being dropped onto the planet, broadcast the exposition over the comm
actually, scratch that, just have shepard walk through the eerily empty corridors of the colony before happening upon the geth planting a dude on the spike
information: you are a space fighting dude, this colony is clearly fucked, oh shit what are those space zombies attended to by robots, blam blam okay now what is going on
cue nihilus being all 'later, sucker' and his promptly being capped
it really is just a matter of pacing, since all the story essential stuff happens at the end of eden prime anyway
i wish bioware wrote postmortems of their games, it really feels like a first draft of an opening
when did his mandible twitch, i only ever noticed that happening with garrus as he stared down the rifle scope at what's his face, which was pretty damn powerful
that mandible twitch might be one of the greatest moments in video game history
It's weird that such a teeny tiny thing can make such an impact, but that twitch was what made me realise Mass Effect was going to be a bit special, and had something I'd never seen in a game before. (besides twitching mandibles, obviously)
yeah i dunno nihlus kind of isnt a dick i dont know where you are getting that vibe from
hes very clearly a good dude and everyone on ship is just being all xenophobic dicks to him because they dont trust spectres or turians
he goes off alone because hes a spectre and hes a sneaky dude doing some recon

not even close
aside from his loyalty mission, he points out that there is a large number of geth who were not swayed by the reapers
uh the geth in the loyalty mission were heretics
still though point taken
EDIT: OH you mean if you choose to reprogram them gotcha
http://www.audioentropy.com/
not even just coming from a nostalgia angle
it's literally 'OMINOUS VOICEOVER PANNING OVER YOUR CHARACTER SILHOUETTED IN THE WINDOW'
SOME GUY: 'GO FIND THE TURIAN'
TURIAN: 'I HATE HUMANS, ALSO I HATE YOU SPECIFICALLY, NOW FUCK OFF SO I CAN CARRY THE ENTIRE MISSION ON MY SHOULDERS'
*dies*
HUMANITY: 'YAY SHEPARD!'

i think i'm gonna get that as a tattoo

I would side with them before capping the main bad guy in the back of the head
I'd side with them to kill all aliens then kill them when they tried to attack humanity
Or I'd just have them kill some aliens then kill them anyway
The reapers would just be a tool
I see I think I misunderstood
I thought everything after the comma was a related clause
like either you want to side with them or you want to use them

Like how we used Rocky to end Communism, but then we totally stole all his money and made him hang out with a guy named Tommy Gunn
ain't no running, clint
cap me the reaper leader
then take his place

look america was founded on treason
I'm probably wrong then
I thought it happened when you said you didn't need some alien watching over you

While Jacob was boring, he wasn't nearly as much fun to be a dick to as Kaidan was

apparently you can turn kaidan into a xenophobic council-hater if you play as a renegade female shepard
i never did that because the female shepard voice actor is pretty bad. but it definitely sounds fun
usually mike meer's the one no one likes

And for me, that would mean everyone
Gotta get me that space AIDS
