I have an associates degree from a community college in Business Administration. Eventually I want to get a bachelors degree in accounting, because that's where the jobs are supposed to be. Ideally I would like to work for either the state or federal government (I am more concerned about job security than most any other factor).
I am going to the same community college I've been going to this spring to get a few more classes that I think I will need to get a degree at a four year institution. My problem is picking the institution. It's between Sac state, and Brandman University. I have reasons for wanting to go to both colleges.
Brandman University is much cheaper, they have one very close to my house, and the college itself seems to much have less bureaucracy surrounding it. The only reason I do not want to go to Brandman is I am unsure of their actual real world reputation, my primary concern is that I can get a job after I graduate. I have no idea how people perceive Brandman University, or how going there will effect my ability to get a job versus if I went to Sac state.
Sac State's business Program is supposed to have a very good reputation (this is what I have heard from the handful of people I've talked to who know anything about it), however their business program is impacted. Its been on the news that many of Sac states students have had to stay an extra couple of semesters because they cannot get the classes they need to graduate, Brandman University has a lot of online classes, supposedly their students have little trouble getting the classes they need to graduate (none of this is first hand experience, pretty much all my information is from a friend of a friend).
My big concern is this, will which of these colleges I go to significantly effect my ability to get a job? Sac state has a lot of bureaucracy, is far away from where I live, and costs five times as much in tuition as Brandman University. Any thoughts?

(I'm Canadian so I'm not exactly sure how the CPA designation works)
University of Phoenix. I found the Wikipedia article on them to be enlightening to say the least. Brandman University's wikipedia is much nicer, but how much does that really mean?
I haven't really considered the CPA designation much. I am focused on getting a real job (making thirty thousand dollars a year or more), and then I'll look at my options. I'm not looking any farther into the future then the day that I will actually be able to afford to live on my own.
In either case though, once you get your first job, the amount people actually give a shit about where you went to school falls off hard.
I am not only a student at Brandman University, but I work for them as well. I can tell you without a doubt that Brandman is not a "fake school". Brandman University is fully WASC accredited (same as CSUS, UC Davis, Stanford, etc) non profit University. Brandman University is part of Chapman University which is ranked amongst the top 8 schools in the Western states. Chapman is also one of the oldest schools in California behind UC Berkely and Chapman/Brandman holds one of the highest graduation rates out of public and private schools. Your units are fully transferable to other accredited insitutions, and with a high graduation rate and low default rate on student loans - a majority of our students either to gain employment after graduation and/or recieve promotions as a result.
I obtained my Bachelors Degree at CSUS in business, a Masters from UOP, and now am studing a 2nd Masters at Brandman. Yes, it is much easier to get your classes with Brandman and the quality of education is very good. Our instructors are some of the best in their fields! I'd be happy to speak with you if you want more information? Its always a good idea to check out all your local universities and then decided what school will be the best fit for you. Good luck in your search!
