Man, Balls to that negative shit, If we're going down, let's go down swinging.
There's no shame in losing a TftD game after all.
It would be something if this game is lost, considering it started out so freakishly well.
It goes around, then it comes around.
Personally, I know what I'd do in this situation, recruit en-masse and brute force it Russian-Style.
Not wildly popular for a lets play though
I started a game of TFTD cause of this thread. I shouldn't have named my main base Sealab 2021, that just led to a good mission having me lose most of my recruits. Terror missions end with a sole survivor half the time.
If you fuckers die or abandon me here without evacuating the AI core to the surface I swear I will find some way into the afterlife and haunt the shit out of you.
The Tofystedeth AI system apologizes for that unprofessional outburst. Streses caused by abrupt severing of contact with destroyed HWP units and losses inflicted upon the team have caused fragments of the incompletely merged personality to resurface. Rest assured it should not happen again. In the meantime please enjoy this video I found on the computer of our beloved Morale Officer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxScTbIUvoA

Don't worry. After the base staff leave I'm the last one out in my Barracuda as per XCom: Aquatic Regulations. I'll be sure to flick the light switch when I go.
"Flicking the Light switch" is totally not a code name for putting a full spread of torpedoes into the pod containing the AI Core and Reactor systems.
I was born from a dark wet place, i will die in a dark wet place. Don't worry Tofy, i got your back til the last day. Or until i die.

Internal memorandum:
Regarding: Evacuation procedures.
There have been several discussions recently of evacuation plans and survival strategies, should our situation further deteriorate, and I felt it my duty, as the officer in charge of this project, to set the record straight.
Currently, there is no evacuation procedure. We win here, somehow, or we die.
There is no safe haven. There is no rest. A sleeping god longs to devour us all and the heavens themselves sing with his kin.
Our deliverance can only be won in blood and toil. Our damnation comes with failure, with surrender.
We fight until we die, and then we hope we delayed the enemy long enough for others to stand where we fell.

Hey Director, I don't actually know if there are base assaults in this, but if there is and they hit the main base can I somehow take part in the defense? Just like give me a pistol. If I die I die, but it would be heroic as hell.

You will if possible.
dibs on the largest, most powerful weapon we got when that happens.
Firing from behind the line of soldiers, of course.

Then I am with you to the end Director! Let's start murdering the bastards.
So could you give us a rundown of what we have at this point? Other than those clips of ammo I mean.
One Gas Cannon Coelacanth. A small stockpile of terrestrial weapons and cutting edge gauss pistols.
Five medikits.
A single thermal shock launcher. Three rounds for it.
A handful of prisoners and corpses.
And an excess of Zrbite and Aqua Plastics.
Oh. Well, in that case, give me a shotgun (preferably the AA-12) and a flashlight. It'll be a good day to die.
We're also out of shotguns. You can have your choice of an M16 (early models), a gauss pistol, and maybe a FiveseveN
Which would be useless in the majority of our engagements due to minimal functionality in a submerged environment. Stick with the Gauss pistol.
Oh, you want guns that work underwater too. Well, we have a few of the gas cannons, and maybe a harpoon gun or two. With the disturbing abundance of ground missions though, a gauss pistol is really a far and away better idea.

They had to build our bases with something, right?
Can I just get a sledge hammer, or some kind of blow torch?

Should have gotten Glocks. They work underwater. If half-life and mythbusters are to be believed.
Aw man, it'll take the Battle of the Somme for me to see active duty anytime soon.
I demand a new base be built on the far side of the planet with nothing but myself, a large radar, and living quarters, where I can maintain a lonely yet noble vigil for eternity.
They're all dead. Hands crawling, writhing at the surface. Zahrkon's bloated corpse strung like a marionette. Oh we will see him soon, yes we will. The eyes are all we need, he will see us with those eyes and find all our nooks and crannies. Look at us! Look. At. Us. How else do you see? The incessant chirping won't stop. Click. Click. I can hear you I said I could hear you already be quiet now I heard you! Sleep, go to sleep we will wake you when it is all ready. It is NOT ready YET they are clawing at the walls why are you clawing at the walls? It is tearing my brain open! Our door is open, wipe your feet and come in through the door! Do NOT tell me you aren't welcome we invited you right IN we saw you and ran ran away. Right to home, to where we live. Come in come in we have guns for everybody. You cannot say no we invited you in and you MUST return the favour! The good doctor wants to see inside of you, just a peek. A nice friendly doctor. It is ringing again that blasted alarm will it ever cease? I can't THINK with all this noise, be quiet! My pills, the doctor's magic pills. I can forget again, please let me forget.

Give me a damn baseball bat and a pair of flippers and I'll hunt every last one of these fuckers to the bottom of the Marinaras if I have to.

Rig the whole base with Zrbite explosives, with a dead man switch.
It's the only way to be sure.

As long as these Depths don't contain any hazardous traps,
you will probably do alright using me as a meat shield.
