Buying a used car: final steps

I'm buying a car from a private party. No financing, just cash. I've already taken a test drive, checked a carfax, and had a mechanic inspect it. I know I still need to get insurance and transfer the title to my name, but I have the feeling I'm missing a step, and I'm not sure what order to do everything in.

    You may have to pay a use tax depending on where you live, and maybe get new plates. Hit up Google for your state's DMV page and I'm sure they'll have all of the stuff you need to do in a FAQ somewhere.

    Bill of Sale? You can probably find one online for free, also sites like auto trader I think offer a generic one if you went through them.
