Heading to Mexico next week with my iPhone, what do I need to avoid? *SOLVED*

The title kinda says it all. I'm off to Mexico next week, from Canada, and I'm bringing my iPhone with me since I will require music to listen to. I do not plan on using it as a phone itself, and I won't be using the internet either. I noticed that Data Roaming is turned off by default, which is fine and dandy. But I'm more concerned about long distance costs on the off chance someone calls me? I guess I can just ignore those functions though. There's a way to disconnect myself from the network completely right? Also, what about airplane mode?

Basically I am clueless and don't want to be slapped in the face with a shitty bill upon my return. So please inform me.

    Airplane mode will disconnect you completely. It disables the phone and Wi-Fi.

    So just keep it in airplane mode for the duration of the trip? Perfect. Thank you kindly sir!

    And if you have the ability to connect to free wifi you can turn wifi on while it is in airplane mode (so it would function like an ipod touch).

    If you're jailbroken, there's a program called sbsettings that includes toggles to let you turn off individual features, so you can turn off 3G and Data without turning off wi-fi or bluetooth.
