My only complaint about all this is that I placed a bid of 5050g on this shield about 6 hours ago and I want to know if I was outbid or I wont it but I can't know because I can't log on omfg WHY!?
I dunno man, i'm pretty new back to the game. Came back with Cata, and it seems like there's always something fucking up.
maybe I just play at peak hours when a lot of people log on at the same time or something.

That's weird, because I've had very, very few problems since they launched Cata, and there has been very little server downtime at all, really. They've even skipped a lot of "weekly" Maint. downtime.

Sounds like you're just running into a bit of bad luck. When was the last time you've played? I don't think saying that they have not got their shit together is very fair.

Yeah I think i may have been too hasty in my judgment. I really haven't played since 2007, and haven't played reguarly since like 2005. the service is mostly improved, but being unable to log in reminded me of the terror days of 2004/2005.

This is the first time I've seen an error involving logging into the game since Cata dropped.
... Or since sometime back in early WotLK days, which was prior to my hiatus.
You know what I don't get that maybe someone can explain to me?
Why in every single auction category I look at (which lately had been all trade mats) are there a few listings for stacks of copper bars (or whatever else cheap product) for something ridiculous like 200g? When there is no way in hell it will ever sell for that, seeing as the regular price for said product is like 5-20g per stack (or whatever).
Is it to throw off people who use auctioneer, so as to give false values of what shit should be worth? Or what?
It's also because people are starting a lot of new alts, and so the lower-level mats get more expensive as cash-flush 80+s start buying them up en masse to powerlevel their trade skills. As the rush of Cataclysm-related alts slows down, prices will drop on average as well.
Yeah I get that. But thats not really what I'm talking about - prices for.. say; a stack of copper bars will never ever ever ever sell at 200g. An inflated price people will pay is maybe 20g per stack (this exact figure may be wrong but you get my point).
So these particular auctions I'm talking about can't really be explained through that type of inflation.
I think the explanation of people trying to fuck with auctioneer values makes sense.
I'm that guy, the one who puts up copper bars at 200g, or stacks of linen/wool/silk at ungodly prices. Why? Because that shit sells. all. the. time.
80+'s with a ton of gold roll a new alt, they're rockin' tons of heirlooms, they blow through the content, and don't want to go spend any time mining, herbing, whatever. So they buy every stack of something off the AH, all of it.
Especially at a time like now with everyone rolling alts, the AH eventually clears out of the low priced shit, which leaves my auctions. Then it's just a matter of 'how bad do you want those skill points', and apparently the answer is, 'pretty bad'.
There's also that saying... a fool and his money...
I dunno, I can appreciate that each expansion inflates prices, but I've found there's just a threshold of gold that I just won't pay for trade goods, even if I have no desire to level the old fashioned way. Take elemental motes, for example. I would never pay 40g for a primal fire in BC, I would never pay 40g for an Eternal Fire in Wrath, and I'm not going to pay 40g for a volatile fire in Cataclysm. I have no idea why, but there's just a hard limit of "too much, won't pay" regardless of whether I've got 200 or 20,000 gold.
but at the point you are no longer appreciating that each expansion inflates prices
40g is worth way, way less than in BC
I mean I can appreciate why prices are being inflated, but that doesn't mean I'm going to pay them. Collecting Savage Leather now takes just as much effort as it did to collect Knothide Leather four years ago or whatever, so I'm going to value them the same. If prices are going to continue to go up, I'll just continue utilizing my own trade skills and enjoy self sufficiency.

Well I was planning on selling at least some of my Heavenly Shards for enchanting materials, but apparently Heavenly Shards have collapsed in price on my server while the costs for dusts and essences continues to skyrocket.
Le sigh.

Yessss Tyrande's Favorite Doll get! That's absolutely everything I want from Archaeology, thank god. I've also got Staff of Ammunae enchanted, as it's unlikely I'll be replacing it in a hurry.
Tried them out on the dummies, 12k dps with 50k mana after 6 minutes and no Innervate used, absolutely badass.

You... the... please tell me you've been doing archaeology for like 80 hours at 525 because otherwise I will have to drink my haterade.

that enchant will also be good for any caster toons you ever get to level 85
Does anyone know if I gave an archaeology item to one of my characters on account A if I transfered them to account B would it go away? only to stay on account A
I really would just do whatever nodes or area popped up but found out I could jsut focus on one race for the items

162 Night elf artifacts completed (100~ after 6/7), 1300 fossil fragments, 18 Tol'vir artifacts completed 30~ troll and sundry other. I've been pretty lucky to be honest.
Tol'vir keystones are selling for 900g on my realm, so that's a pretty sweet bonus.

Edit - ... actually that doesn't make sense. But I was able to get in last night is what I mean.
When I went to bed last night I was having problems, and when I woke up this morning I was still having issues. Took thirty minutes to get back in when I logged out to clear my cache (was having some weird issues)
I really like archeology - went from 60-63 (to 300 arch) on my priest just flying around Kalimdor - set my flight path, afk for five minutes, dig, rinse and repeat. I would probably hate it if I was already level 85 and just looking for one particular item, though.

Yeah I've gone from 80-84 just using archaeology and have a few items now, tempted just to push on through as I really want the tol'vir mount.
My god, Outlands just totally killed my leveling buzz. Suddenly leveling is taking forever, I'm getting stupid group quests, and so many times I've given in a quest only to be sent back to the place I just left.
Does Arch require Cataclysm? I might just level with that, ugh.
