PS3 Text... so tiny.

So, I moved into a new place and I took my PS3. Back at my old place, I had an HD flatscreen wich I connected through HDMI. At my new place, I have those old CRTs, I connected it using component cables included with the PS3. I changed the aspect ratio when I plugged it into the CRT, but still the text is so small and so sharp that I have a hard time reading even DVD menus.

Is there any setting I've overlooked?

I only own a 27" CRT tv and have exhausted all methods of trying to make the text legible on my PS3. I'm sure you've already done all the standard things like fidgeting around with the PS3 settings. Some games have their own settings to make text bigger, but it's never made it that much easier to read, at least for me. I just sit a helluva lot closer to my tv to make it a tiny bit easier.

Sorry to be a downer, but I do feel your pain :-\

I think it's gotten to the point where they're basically telling you you need a flatscreen LCD these days

those of use with affordable televisions weep in sadness over this leap in forced technology

Yeah, not much you can really do. It's the same with the 360 as well. Any HD system is going to have this issue on a non-HD display :(

Well, I guess this is truly the age of HD. I'll put my old TV in a closet along with the VCR and casset player. At least it's a good excuse to buy a new TV.

Text size on a DVD should look exactly the same no matter what you put it on. DVD is only 480p generally.
