What wows me so much about ME2 is how much better than ME it is
And I loved ME
If they continue to refine it, ME3 will be flat out amazing.
Honestly, about the only thing they need to dump is the scanning for minerals mini game. Or at least make it so you only have to do it on the one play through.

Agreed about the minerals
The only way I can think which would improve it would be the ability to change team-mates gear in the same way as Shepards, and they each have unique costumes which change depending on the gear parts you give them. That level of customisation would be funskis.
This is a tiny gripe but they could also fix it so that when you're on a planet or docked at a station you stay there even if you go back to the ship. It kinda bugged me that when you're on Omega and you pick up Mordin or Garrus and have to go back to the ship and it does the "flying away" animation, so then when you want to go back to get the other guy you've got to reselect it on the map and fly back in. Just stay there until I tell you to leave, ok?

The biggest visual change needed is helmets. Make it that they come up an out of the spacesuit somehow to explain how they can be removed for speaking parts and non-combat situations (while inside things with air or on planets with breathable atmospheres).
Also, make the helmets look good instead of the ugly ass selection in ME2.
I would like more interesting power evolution instead of the choice between Heavy or Area versions that most of the choices basically were, and more powers in general would be kind of neat

I guess I'm the only one who didn't really have a problem with it.
E: I agree with the Helmets completely.

That would be hard to balance for play style josh. They would have to design all of the encounters so that they were doable with the abilities of a level 1 OR a level 30, and still feel rewarding to both.

Also, welcome to video game sequels. You will always lose your elite uber equipment from last time, lose your abilities and powers due to magic or a technical failure of some kind, and probably have to start over from scratch because the current villain bests you.
Quest for Glory did it ages ago. I realize it's an abstraction but it did feel like I became less powerful importing due to fewer abilities that didn't work as well
Well, you do start with bonuses for having lots of shit in ME1. I imagine some crap will transfer over to number 2 (I just hope they base it off upgrades and not money, because I spent all my money on cool crap and I'd be a little miffed to see scrooges get away with more goodies in ME3).

I'm actually a bit worried about ME3. I love ME1 so, so much, it is one of my favourite games. And then the progression from ME1 to ME2 was phenomenal. So now my expectations for ME3 are so high that I don't think it's actually possible for the game to meet them. Bioware has pretty much guaranteed ME3 will be a disappointment. Way to ruin everything, Bioware!

What I'm fascinated by is how they'll evolve from the Squad concept. Your squadmates were the most important and impressive aspect of the entire game. And they can all die at the end. So how will they reconcile that with ME3?
Will it be entire races instead of your squad or what?

I don't get this progression you're imagining at all. ME1: squad based and one teammate dies ME2: squad based, entire team can die ME3: for some reason you think it won't be squad based?
I think what he's getting at is that based on how you handle the Reapers they can wipe out entire species before the end of the series

Your entire team only dies if you are a terrible, terrible Shepard.

I think that's the most likely direction yeah. What I'm wondering is how they'll keep it at the intensely personal level they achieved in ME2, without the use of your squadmates. Like I'm not sure why my Shepherd, after he and his crew survived the most dangerous suicide mission of their lives so far (together) would go well hey let's go get some other squad members.
This is all just random thoughts though. I'm just really curious as to how or what they'll do.

It's mostly I'm wondering how they'll consolidate people who had their entire team survive vs. people who had their entire team die.

WHY WON'T YOU WORK GAME
ME won't launch in Steam for me :C
I mean, I didn't think I was ever going to play these in the first place, so it's only mildly disappointing, but Whippy paid money for 'em, and I don't want it to have been wasted.

I wonder if Thane will just be dead due to his lungs just stopping. Maybe they will find a cure by then, seeing that Cerberus could literally resurrect zombie Shepard after he crashed into a planet from space.
I am not worried about it. The fact that this is the end of the trilogy gives them flexibility to do almost anything. Every single thing they put into ME2 they had to consider how all the different options would affect ME3. They no longer have to do that, they could make as many crazy diverging unique paths as possible.

Yeah but it took 2 years and a budget beyond comprehension. I don't think they are going to pull out those stops for a wheezy fish.

A wheezy lizard...come on man. He's no fish, it's moisture that's killing him.
Also, Shepard will kill any scientists that don't work for free.
Did people really not do a good Shep and a bad Shep just to see all of the things? I know I've got two going and it's nice; sometimes you want to be a space dick, sometimes you just want hugs.
Man I didn't know "not blowing it up" meant giving it to TIM. I mean, fuck that cocksucker, but just blasting all this crazy Reaper-tech to nothing seemed a goddamned waste

You didn't start out at level 1 when you imported from ME1 to ME2. My lvl 60 started at lvl 4 or 5 if I recall.
I want the option of my level 30 Shepard (at the end of ME2)
to be a level 30 Shepard (at the beginning of ME3)
And increase the level cap, say to 60

Your Shepard did not, in fact, grow into a level 30 human being over the course of the game.
