odd wifi issue

so I went to use my laptop a couple weeks ago and the wifi indicator was on like usual, however the connection to the internet wasn't active. It told me that the wifi switch wasn't turned on..except that it was. Now, just tooling around I decided to do a system restore to a week before that to when it was working, and lo and behold it started working. The problem is, after a few days it went back to not working again with the same issue. So, another system restore got it working and so on. Obviously the system restore wasn't the fix I was looking for, but it gave me a window of time to check up on any possible reasons it was doing this. I haven't found any and I'm definitely stumped.

It's obviously a software/OS related issue, but pinpointing exactly what the issue is has proven to be quite the headache.

Any insight as to what this could be?

try installing updated drivers for your wifi adapter and check to see if there is an update for any software that deals with the switch.

Check your powersaver settings and make sure it isn't turning off your wireless adapter when it goes to sleep or anything.
