Guam is like Hawai'i with more humidity and snakes. And less people and things to do.

    is AC brotherhood any good?

I'm told it is. I have it, but I've been away from my pee ess triple and haven't been able to confirm it. It has most of the stuff Ay Sea too had and more.

    Never played AC 2

Stopped playing AC 1 when the storyline went all herp derp you're not actually in the past!

But I think I can get over that now.

For the love of God, play AC2.

If you enjoyed AC1 at all, AC2 becomes much better.

Can I just go straight to brotherhood or no?

You can, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah, you'll be "Who's this guy? Why should I care?". Brotherhood is like [strike]Half Life[/strike] Assassin's Creed 2: Episode One, so you'll be hopelessly lost.

I don't like New Year's. It is always a disappointment. I think it is because it is a pretty empty thing to start with, but a really busy one.

This year I'll be in France though, although apparently French Girl's parents will be around. So we are going to eat lots of seafood.

I think I'll spend new years doing nothing because of illness.

Also I can't drink anymore, I'm not feeling that I want to go to a big party the first occasion after I officially stopped drinking while I simultaneously have a fever. I would not be able to waste away 6 hours among drunks under those conditions.

    Is abdh around

    I need his sage advice

I can't beat this mission in Freelancer. I just, uh, I can't. It's the one where
you have to fight Rheinland military in Bretonia
and most of the time I explode as soon as the game finishes loading. Through luck or judicious use of shield batteries I can survive the initial bombardment but then I can't manage to splash enough of their ships quickly enough. Up until now my combat strategy has been dual stunpulse blasters and dual slingshot missile launchers. Most fighters I can destroy within a few seconds; the stunpulses deplete shields with just a few hits and then one or two volleys of missiles destroys the ship.

But the enemy ships are proving too maneuverable for missiles. They always drop countermeasures or out-turn the missile. And half the time that I manage somehow to get a clear shot on them, the missiles mysteriously veer off course for reasons I can't determine. Plus their ships are tougher than any other fighters I've fought thus far so I need more than one run on them to destroy them. And it's hard enough to do that because even with my cavalier they can outmaneuver me way too easily. If I don't get blown up, I run out of missiles and I definitely can't fight shit with stunpulses.

I tried replacing my stunpulses with plasma cannons but by now I'm not used to dogfighting, which is something I thought might happen with my stunpulse strategy but didn't bother to address. Maybe after a few more tries I'll be able to kill the dudes with the cannons but the slow firing rate and projectile velocity is not faring well against the enemy's superior maneuverability.
