Spellcasting mobs wouldn't have run to the tank in the first place and are probably CC'd. If they are not CC'd that's what interrupts are for.

:^: yeah, ranged mobs are typically the best targets for CC.

Granted, that doesn't work for elementals because most elementals melee, but that's why I like banish.

To be fair, some of those %'s get skewed because of the roles some classes play (i.e. only 4 classes can heal; some classes can heal / tank / dps while others can only dps which partially explains why druids and paladins are at the top).

I don't know what kind of % error you could put on those Figures (looking up Azjol Nerub EU, it's saying there's only 427 horde at the level cap; I don't think it's that low).

Looking at the alliance:horde ratio at 85, it's 39:61; it used to be near 50:50. Nice job.
Yeah there are definite faults with the census, a few realms show up as having 0 players of a certain faction, but it's the only resource we have and even then I doubt those realms with problems would have a massively different class balance to sway the overall world class balance.
The top four classes are all tanks. And yet, never enough tanks.
I think this is because, both three role classes are there, everyone has a DK and there are so many people with tank alts. The queue for DPS tends to get better as expansions go on because people start playing their tanking alts, I think.

    http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=-1&factionid=-1&minlevel=85&maxlevel=85&servertypeid=-1

the search is done with only level 85's on all servers

    Druids 13%

    Priests 10%

Rogue/Warlock numbers aren't surprising at all.

EDIT: I guess pally's shouldn't have surprised me. The first 4 85s in my guild were all paladins.

I rarely see other rogues (har har) while I'm playing even with the "Oh my god thats my car" mentality I hardly ever see them in the ah or other places. Part of it is even with a new focus on cc ours is still out of combat only, 3 minute saps are nice, but on fights like the first in throne of tides where having an extra cc on those mobs would be nice we sadly don't bring ours to the table. I think they need to add more disabling to rogues attacks or something similar. We have a largely unused armor debuff, maybe make that more of a reduces damage from the target, or have disable be a flat damage reduction +disarm for mobs that don't have arms to remove.

Everyone has a DK alt because they started @ 58 basically, so you could go straight to BC which, at the time, was so amazingly better than the old world (god the jump in weapons alone was godly).

I will say this about blizzard. It seems almost every time the next iteration is better than the last.

edit: leveling iteration. LEVELing. New old world>Wotlk>BC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>old old world.

Skipping ahead is actually a useful tool to enhance the life of the content. If I can level from 1 to 85 going from A > C > E > G and then 1 to 85 on a different character going to B > D > F > H, than that's effectively twice the content for the same space.

On heroic he'll get smoked easier then you though, because meele pick up a debuff that breaks a para attack easier where as mages or ranged have to make sure to get a dot reflected or die. It still suck ass a meele more then a ranged, but its there.

Though I've seen more ranged die to void zone like attacks then meele, and thats just god damn sad. I have to maintain distance and position to the boss to damage, you don't, and you still die, hell most ranged even got talents or spells specifically for more mobility in damaging!

Don't forget Wrath. I was in the beta for it. Rogues were basically ignored the entire beta. About 75% of our talents were "NYI" and while every single class forum was being showered with blue posts, the Rogue forum was absolutely ignored the entire time, despite desperate pleas for the developers to look at the class.

Eventually with probably about a month left until release, a developer posted a big laundry list of changes in the Rogue forum - huge, sweeping changes to pretty much all of the trees. I think about half of these actually got implemented as described - most of the positive ones were actually not done or were lies (my favorite - "We think Relentless Strikes is too important to all specs" and their solution was to move it to the fucking Sub tree several tiers down so not only did you have to go into a THIRD tree as Assassination, you couldn't afford to spend all the points in it). This was also when they nerfed the shit out of Deadly Brew in PvE which used to let us put Instant Poison on both weapons to proc a Deadly Poison (changed to all Crippling) and added Overkill (which I have come to like but still feel it doesn't fit in the Assassination tree's theme). Again, this was like a month before retail, and it was even a few weeks before these changes were patched in. So yeah, they had like a week's worth of feedback on them and just shipped the game.

The result? Oh look, one of the talents was bugged and causing extra poison procs (I think? I forget the exact bug), but we were BALANCED around this being bugged. They fixed the bug and Rogues were at the absolute bottom of the DPS meters in Naxx. Nice job Blizzard. Even with the bug though we weren't in great shape, other classes outpaced us by a lot.

Then of course, there was Ulduar the melee-hating raid. "Hey guys, let's implement a boss that has a head that floats in the air so melee can't even hit it! Brilliant!"

Started leveling on a pvp server. Almost level twenty and still no pvp. I am disappointed.

The PVP on PVP servers happens in battlegrounds, just like PVE servers. In the open world you just get ganked by bored level 85's. :(

Last night while leveling my little 80 Rogue in Hyjal, two 85 Alliance showed up in my quest area. As I prepared to bend over for my impending rape, I was pleasantly surprised that they completely left me alone. They even helped kill a few of my quest mobs for me.

There were about 2 or three other random 80ish Horde running around, they could have had a field day, but they left everyone alone.

    I'm still a little shocked.

Man, I wish this was my server. When I was questing in Hyjal we had asshole Horde flagged at all the major quest hubs trying to get people to accidentally AOE them so they could grief them over and over.

    They're idiots.

If they're flagged and you aren't (i.e. you're on a PvE server or in a non-contested zone) your AoEs won't hit them.

What they were doing was trying to have people accidentally right click on them. That will automatically attack and flag.

    The notes:
    General

Many tooltips have been updated to reflect any changes made via recent hotfixes.
The guild reward Armadillo Pup now requires revered faction instead of exalted.
    PvP

    Arenas
Bloodlust, Heroism, Time Warp and Ancient Hysteria can no longer be cast while in Arenas.
    Battlegrounds
    The Battle for Gilneas
The time it takes to capture a flag has been reduced to 5 seconds, down from 8.
    Strand of the Ancients
The damage done by Antipersonnel Cannons has been doubled.
The missile speed of Rocket Blast (Antipersonnel Cannons) has been increased by roughly 50%.
Some Antipersonnel Cannons could shoot the platform they were spawned on. These spawn locations have been fixed.
The Battleground Demolisher no longer has two additional seats and now only has room for the driver.
A PvP duration flag has been added to Battleground Demolishers. This should make it so crowd control effects cast on unmanned demolishers does not last an extended amount of time.
There should no longer be a discrepancy in time when the Battleground Demolishers spawn at the start of each round.
The Battleground Demolishers spawned on the docks no longer despawn when the north graveyard is taken by the offense.
Massive Seaforium Charges should now be useable in rated Battleground matches.
The duration of the Teleport debuff has been lowered to 10 seconds, down from 20.
The radius of the Seaforium Blast has been lowered to 10 yards, down from 20.
    Races

The draenei racial trait Gift of the Naaru now heals 20% of the target's health over 15 seconds, rather than a scaling value.
The dwarven racial trait Stoneform now reduces all damage taken by 10%, rather than increasing armor by 10%. It also increases the dwarf's size when used.
The gnomish racial trait Escape Artist now has a 1.5-minute cooldown, down from 1.75.
The human racial trait Every Man for Himself has been reverted back to a 2-minute cooldown, down from 3 minutes.
The night elf racial trait Shadowmeld can now be used while shapeshifted.
The tauren racial trait War Stomp can now be used while shapeshifted.
The worgen racial trait Darkflight now has a 2-minute cooldown, down from 3, and is no longer on the global cooldown. In addition, the movement speed bonus now stacks with existing bonuses, but cannot be activated while Sprint or Dash is active (and they cannot be activated while Darkflight is active).
    Death Knights

Icebound Fortitude now breaks stuns when used, in addition to providing immunity to them.
Necrotic Strike's absorption effect is now reduced by the target's resilience.
    Talent Specializations
    Blood
Crimson Scourge has been redesigned slightly. Instead of a 50/100% chance to make the next Blood Boil free when Plague Strike is used on a target with Blood Plague, the talent now gives a 5/10% chance to provide a free Blood Boil when the death knight lands any melee attack on a Blood Plagued target.
Will of the Necropolis no longer refunds a Blood Rune when it resets Rune Tap's cooldown. Instead it makes the next Rune Tap free while Will of the Necropolis is active.
    Frost
Howling Blast now deals 40% less damage to all targets other than the primary target of the spell.
Might of the Frozen Wastes now also increases all melee damage by 4/8/12% while wielding a two-handed weapon.
    Unholy
Desecration is now also triggered by Necrotic Strike.
Runic Corruption procs while the aura is already active now add 3 seconds to the existing aura duration, instead of simply refreshing/overwriting the existing aura.
Unholy Might (passive) has been reduced to a 5% Strength increase, down from 10%.
    Glyphs
Glyph of Death's Embrace no longer refunds Runic Power when self-healing via Lichborne.
    Druids

    Barkskin is no longer dispellable.
Healing Touch is now trained at level 78, up from level 3.
Lacerate damage has been reduced by approximately 20%.
Mangle (Bear Form) weapon damage (at level 80+) has been reduced to 235%, down from 300%.
Mangle (Cat Form) weapon damage percent (at level 80+) has been increased to 460%, up from 360%.
Maul damage has been reduced by approximately 20%.
Mount Up: This guild perk now applies to Flight Form and Swift Flight Form as well.
Nourish is now trained at level 8, down from level 78.
Omen of Clarity can no longer trigger from helpful spells (aka heals), unless the Restoration talent Malfurion's Gift is chosen.
Rake damage has been reduced by 10%.
Rejuvenation is now trained at level 3, down from level 8. In addition, its mana cost has been reduced from 26% to 16%.
Rip damage has been reduced by 10%.
Shred weapon damage percent (at level 80+) has been increased to 450%, up from 350%.
    Talent Specializations
    Balance
The Shooting Stars buff duration has been increased to 12 seconds, up from 8 seconds.
Wild Mushroom is now instant cast, down from 0.5 seconds. In addition, the radius of detonation has been increased to 6 yards, up from 3, and damage done increased by 15%.
    Feral
Berserk (instant Mangle proc) now has a new Spell Alert identifier. In addition, Berserk no longer breaks Fear or makes the druid immune to Fear.
Pulverize weapon damage percent has been reduced to 80%, down from 100%.
    Restoration
Empowered Touch now also affects Regrowth.
Nature's Bounty no longer affects Swiftmend, but now has a new effect. When the druid has Rejuvenation on 3 or more targets, the cast time of Nourish is reduced by 10/20/30%.
    Glyphs
Glyph of Regrowth now causes the heal-over-time effect to refresh itself on targets at or below 50% health, up from 25%.
Glyph of Wrath now increases damage done by Wrath by 10% and no longer requires Insect Swarm on the target.
    Hunters

Aimed Shot! weapon damage has been increased to 200%.
Aspect of the Wild, Aspect of the Hawk, and Aspect of the Fox can now be cast while mounted.
Deterrence now provides 100% chance for melee attacks to miss instead of 100% parry chance. This means that attacks that cannot be parried, notably some rogue abilities, can now be prevented by Deterrence, and the hunter will gain the benefit of Deterrence even if disarmed.
Dust Cloud's cooldown and duration have been modified to make it closer aligned with Tailspin (same effect, different pet).
Kill Command's damage has been increased by 20%.
Kill Shot's attack power scaling has been increased by 50%.
Master's Call now has a 35-second cooldown, down from 1 minute. In addition, the visual effect is more obvious.
    Talent Specializations
    Marksmanship

■The damage done by Antipersonnel Cannons has been doubled.

    * Light of Dawn base healing has been reduced by 40%, from 1008 - 1124 to 605 - 675.
    * Tower of Radiance no longer affects Holy Light.

Is this as bad as it sounds?

We have 3 raid ready healers right now in my guild, myself (shaman) and 2 pallys.
Everyone else either is leveling alts after trying a few 85 normals, or just straight out gave up. Not looking good for our "10 mans only instead of doing 25's with 19 decent players" plan we were all gung ho about at the end of wrath.

so quick question - is anybody else out there having problems finding healers to recruit?

Launched a guild toward the end of wrath, geared up for Cata and IMO we have a great group of PvE and PvP players. But we're being held back right now because we only have a handful of healers and if they're not on we can't do diddly.

And it seems trade chat on our server is full of "guild looking for healers!" "Rated BG team looking for healer!" "heroics looking for healer!"

It's funny you say that. I've been hit up by three guilds now on our server to join up and heal them :P Apparently It's a universal thing.

Bleh. The HS and Cleave nerfs I knew were coming. I don't like them, but as far as nerfs go they're not as painful as others I've dealt with. The charge sharing a cooldown with stuns is also annoying, another PvP nerf screwing over people that never pvp. The complete lack of anything aimed specifically at prot warriors is both completely expected, and welcome. No news is good news.

Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Those are tooltip fixes, those changes are actually already in the game. Are you healing ok now?
So the new change to the arms talent Juggernaut makes the 4 piece pvp set bonus absolutely fucking useless.

Blizzard has a good track record of making warrior set bonuses fucking worthless without any changes. Hey Fury, your deep wounds can now.... uhh....

that bleed talent you... uhh... can't get... can now....

hmm.... uuhh... HEY GUYS A PONY!

Anyways, it's a pretty big nerf to Arms and still doesn't do anything for the "throwdown + recklessness + colossus smash = lol" strategy, it just makes mages even better against warriors than they were before.

Maybe they should give the defenders in Tol Barad more of an advantage, I'd hate for this patch to be merely bad when it could be truly terrible.
