I started doing research on the new release and now I'm actually excited and very possibly doing this...

    God dammit!

The Fair Play skill system to reward natural play and avoid the requirement of macroing is a nice idea, I hope it works out okay.

I am maybe holding onto an outdated idea of guild, where you (a) had open PvP among all guild members so you had to be real careful about who you associated with and (b) reputation was a huge deal and that guild tag was important.

Thinking about it, it's probably less of a issue with what is going to be happening here if I'm doing my thing and playing anti, while another under the tag is griefing others. Because I just want to support other PAers and have that support myself. Crafting would be a big part for us to rally under.

I don't think we'll have griefers man. I think that's a worry you...well...don't have to worry about. As far as I know I'm the only one who is vocally going red, and I am only going to be red because I will be playing a bounty hunter/assassin. I hate griefing and have no intention of being one, and I don't think anyone else here is a fan of it either.

If you want to be an anti-PK, more power to you man. Just make sure, before you make any decisions, who is actually a PK, and who is simply red because they to, are an anti-PK.

In truth, I guess my play style/the service I offer would fall under anti-PK as well. I just do it from the shadows, and make money off of it.

icq is 10987728. that number is burned into my mind haha, but i never use it.

otherwise, i'm happy to open up irc (or at least a web based version) and at least listen in vent (no mic again at the moment) and also leave a meebo tab open too with icq logged in.

    ---

i'm mostly on board with Anon's idea as well. I do remember a time when a guild would get a certain reputation based on a few players and thus become KOS to everyone in the guild. that was always bad for the crafters, so i like the idea of one large PA guild that is generally friendly, but with a secondary stone for the hardcore PVPers or just PKs. The two stones would obviously be aligned however and act as the same. Almost like a PA and PA-1. I wouldnt want the actions of our pk's to get our crafters/resource gatherers killed.

    ---

i've still got a soft spot for the top of Trinny bank from my old stone hopping SAS days. but i'm down to rep any town you guys choose. maybe something a little more out of the way and less populated would be good, even if it isn't one of the "towns" involved in the town system.

    ----

guildname wise, i'm up for anything funny or ridiculous.

Yeah, as I was saying, I might just be holding onto an old school view on guilds. :P But also your post shows the "well, okay not EVERYONE everyone" can work under one guild always.

I'll probably have my mage (making scrolls and runebooks for people again, I enjoyed providing books way back in the day) as a PA main and then perhaps a dexxer paladin for my anti needs, guilded or otherwise.

Totally, and if reputation becomes an issue, we can sling alts into the PA guild, and use mains in alt guilds. Then just use those mains to protect the crafters/harvesters during events and if anyone takes issue just say "dude, gold speaks. They paid us to work together".

But honestly, I don't think guild rep is going to be as big a thing. It's going to be more personal rep. I think anyway. But I'm of the opinion that if a member of the PA guild earns the guild a negative rep two things can happen:

One, our anti-PK's and PK killers/anyone that fights other people in any way, quickly put people in their place. Earning the guild a name to be feared in any and all categories. Meaning if some one wants to attack a blue mining alt, they have to fear retribution from people like you or me.

Two, we split those people off to a separate stone, and start a campaign to let people know the original PA guild is not associated with them (even though we will always be true to our brothers, we'll just be super secret about it). Which will rectify the reputation.

I'm in favor of the first option. "Oh, you feel Anon the Felon* griefed you? Now you're attacking anyone with the PA tag? Well hold on, Anon the Felon, Infidel, and every other red/anti-PK we have are going to rain down upon you and your kin with a terrible vengeance. You want to second guess your hate? Perhaps re-evaluate your opinion?"

*This will not be my character name, promise.

I would prefer that over a bunch of divergent play styles spreading out. If we get guild hate over what people do we'll lay down some rules, and rectify our reputation. I have no problem talking with everyone and coming up with some ground rules we'll adhere to.

    Double post!

We should work on guild names. I'm partial to "Arcadians" but "We Are Nice Guys" is always a classic for PA.

Alternatively, "Magic Sword Kings" is pretty solid, since PA did a comic line by that name.

UO: Second Age (another freeshard) has a test center that I've been doing some dueling on to get used to PvP again. There are slight differences, but it's still fundamentally Pre:UOR pvp.

Try that Pidgin program Anon suggested. You can run irc and icq in the same client, and it's really slim.

I'd get in on this action.

I was never all that great "back in the day" because I never read any forums and never did any theory crafting. Still I had so much fun as a bardiche wielding mage who would stand around hidden jumping the reds.

Eh, I much prefer Fancy Lads to Order of Arcadians, it just sounds a little... I don't know, too serious?

Not sure that's the right word to use, but I just don't like the word Arcadian.

Anything making the acronym WANG is always good, of course.

Then "something Arcadians something" it is, we can iron it out down the road.

So, I made us a guild forum for us to use.

This evening I'll be posting up a poll so we can design the guild and lay out some rules. I'll also be working on a guild logo. If some one is more talented with graphic design then me (read, just about everyone else in the world), feel free to make something and PM me a link to it.

The only requirement for a logo is to incorporate the word "Arcadians" in it some where, or an image that sends that message.

The forum is very much under construction, things are subject to change. I am the main admin right now, but will gladly accept people who want to be moderators. The way it works is: All members must be approved by an admin/moderator before they can see the full forum. So, when registering please use your PA forum name so I can quickly verify you're a PA member and expedite registration.

All friends of PA members are welcome, we'll just need you to sponsor them in. Just saying "Hey, this person is my wife/boyfriend/son" and we'll get their account approved.

Anyone who wants in should be on those forums, if just to read and vote on how we organize the guild and set up the ground rules.

Edit: I set up a sub forum for a group called "Fancy Lads" which will be either our name, or first subsidiary guild. I just used arcadians because it's gotten a majority of positive response.

hopefully there will be a big enough group of seasoned vets and those who have played more recently that can help the newbies and old schoolers who havent played in over a decade. i can see a few good people speeding through launch, getting guild resources up asap, while the rest of us catch up learning/re-learning the game from scratch

ps. lol im all over this thread. did pm u tho :). im a little worried about putting people off by appearing to start out seemingly exclusive tho. i think maybe we should consider just letting everyone whos remotely PA related flood into the guild/board and sort everything out a week or so into launch

Well, the major concern of that is that we might end up swamped by somebody who knows where we decide to start, where we want to build our guild house, etc.

I wouldn't put it past the goons to spy on people. :D

You'll have to let me know how that is. I love the game because it was my first, and because I loved the Ultima series of games. Showing some of the shrines to my friends, explaining the quest of the avatar, and so on was tons of fun when I played back during launch / T2A. I have no idea how it holds up without a decade worth of baggage and nostalgia.

The nature of UO and a competitive shard start is that you need to have some things organized, but others finding out your plans can ruin them.

I haven't played for years and years but it's all coming back and I will be glad to help any newbies.
