this could be interesting, i played uo for exactly 5 minutes. My dad bought it for me as a gift one day, and I made an account, I asked him for his credit card number which made alarms go off for him, I got my 30 free days, but right after making my character my dad took it back to the store and got a refund(I am still amazed since I used the key)
I'm a long time lurker, but I'm looking forward to joining PA in this venture. I registered under this name on the guild forum.
I played on Chesapeake for a couple years after T2A came out, and I've also tried out a few free shards. I have essentially no PK experience but I'm open to trying it out if that's what the plan is. Mostly, I enjoy the sandbox style that hasn't been replicated in more "modern" MMO's.

Sounds like everyone has heard about the delay. Totally sucks, but I'd rather put IPY off for another 3 weeks than have it launch and crash all the time.
The upside is we can use this time to get more organized and reacclimated with the game. I'll update the OP.
And just for the record, I really don't think there's going to be another delay. Delay once, you risk losing people you can probably get back eventually. Delay twice, and you're risking the whole shard.
Anyone check out the screenshots of the houses they're putting in on the Facebook? I think they're classic but cool. I'll try to figure out how to post them later.
I thought so too, but there are several new house types hitting. Since I'm unsure of Facebook's hotlinking policies, I rehosted them. I seriously doubt reposting them elsewhere will cause issues, since they're on a publicly-accessible Facebook page:

I really like the forth and fifth one, but yeah, the first is definitely a bit... much. All the t2a houses will be in though, for the purists. And there won't be any wacky custom housing tools a la AoS.
Also, is that man swimming?

Don't they mean to say "mayor"? I mean, they already HAVE a king...

I think that first house is fucking AWESOME
i've always loved the idea of player-run towns and it looks like it would be a great facilitator for a craftsman-run vendor town, like a strip mall
I'm super glad the release date has been pushed back, as I wouldn't have been able to play for a while on launch
i still might not, actually
but theres more of a chance now!

A) This is kind of a thread about IPY That shard sucks hundreds of dicks.
I would think, with shards, they could have created whatever (Ultima) reality they wished. Maybe?
The setting of EA Ultima Online is a weird confused mess AND its own reality. It's initially set during Ultima II: Revenge of the Enchantress (sorta, right after the Gem is busted), but features stuff like the Shadowlords (Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny), the Guardian (Black Gate Trilogy - 7p1, 7p2, 8, 9) and the Avatar apparently never appears as the shards are not Britannia Prime but there's a temple (whaa?) to the Virtues during what would have been the Ages of Darkness (Ultima I-III). Add to this that there's a metaplot that once the people spirtually purify themselves in each shard enough that they're going to all be horribly annihilated if/when/someday the shards are reunited to fix what was broken. This weird part was a discussion between Lord British and the Time Lord.
The funny part about amateursuperhero's reply is that there was a point in the original setting before Britannia is unified and would-be rulers fought each other. This is a private shard though, so who knows?
EA's version from start to now on Live is like a wild shroom adventure through Ultima fiction, and some other weird crap they shoved in.

I wasn't aware of the guardian being in game / referenced anywhere in game. I honestly thought that the only tie to the lore was the shattering of the gem, and that's where they left it.

Actually, I shouldn't say that about the Guardian himself in conjunction with Ultima Online proper as the final revisions of lore in Ultima repurposed the Guardian's origin story. Originally it was meant to be tied to the defeat of the Shadowlords, who are represented as a Faction in EA Ultima Online. Probably why I misremembered that.
Hacki Dragon (of the Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter fanclub, orig of Prodigy service) has a rather extensive list of all the nitpicks throughout the canonical series if you're into that kinda thing. Tons of spoilers, though.

Hey, I went and signed up for the beta. Was that what I was supposed to do?
I want to recreate my tamer from classic UO, Lenin, and build my glorious soviet republic of tamed rabbits and mice... and one dragon
who I didn't quite have the skill to tame, and once after being ganked and looking for a full half hour found stuck inside the ganker's house, surrounded by a ring of corpses, the poor guy didn't have a "I ban thee" macro and couldn't get it out quick enough

That's pretty awesome really. My folks got me UO because it was another one of those Ultima games I'd been playing so much of (7 and 8 consumed much of my middle school years).
UO was tons of fun, but I was always a little sad that there wasn't more tie in with the universe. I think maybe I'll pick my character names based on the old games, for sake of being super lame.

They have a forum
It is super easy to play and all you need to run it is razor.
It is instant fun if you are into the small shards.
If you decide to join, tell them Bob sent ya.
Yeah, posted it on our forums, forgot to put in here. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I got UO fever, as I think a lot of us do...
Sucks.
Since you are jonesing to play it, go to the shard I joined, it is fun as hell!!!

Well, at least that is right after conference season for me, so I'll actually be able to play.
They have altered the release date. Pray they do not alter it further.

There's another important post. You can find it right here.
I thought they were just going to use the T2A houses?
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
Is that top monstrosity a single house? It looks like a town.
I'll be happy with the classic smithy house. Or a tower.

IPY? Just go to the links in the OP. They'll post links to the client and patches closer to launch.
Also feel free to register for our guild forums if you're interested in playing with the PA crew (link also in the OP).
Lord British is not my king!
Why didn't they do more with lore in UO? I mean... never anything with the guardian the whole time. Why?
The Avatar destroyed him...
I do indeed mean the big red duder. Also, the avatar destroyed him after UO released.

Can someone give me a walkthrough of what to do?
