Anybody remember a couple of years ago the woman in Pittsburgh who carved a 'B' into her face and then claimed some unidentified black men jumped her and did it?
Strangely, a few people here suggested, before pictures of her post-attack were released, that she probably did it herself. Mainly because the whole story seemed fishy. These people were attacked for jumping to conclusions and such. But they were right.
And amazingly, in recent years, a few people have jumped the rails and started shooting folks. Then it turns out that they had been immersed in the same crazy rhetoric espoused by prominent right-wing people who basically suggest that liberalism needs to be eradicated.
Given the facts (who got shot and where, and who did the shooting), it shouldn't be surprising that many people will come to the conclusion that this dude might have been influenced by it.
But hey, keep trying to paint forumers who make that connection as being unreasonable. Who knows? In a few days, they might have to eat some crow. But where will you be if the odds play out and he was a right-wing whacko?

I think there's a risk of saying to every other nutter out there with a message that shooting some people is a good way to broadcast your message to a billion people world wide. Finding out why these things are happening is a good idea in terms of helping spot future cases and hopefully prevention but the motive shouldn't make it's way to the media; though this is probably impossible in the age of narrative driven 24 hour news.
