My first triple kill with singed , it was GLORIOUS! I should play with you guys more often much more fun. Still I kinda feel sorry for the other team got screwed by matchmaking pretty hard.

Tree was playing Taric and some other guy on their team was playing Janna and they were having a CS war to see who could get the most creep kills before the end of the game
The other three people on the team were helping Tree win it and he won by one CS!

So, I'm still pretty much terrible, but at least I can play AP TF decently. At least, decent relative to the terribad that is the first ten levels with other players. I usually go dorans - sheen - boots - deathcap - lichbane, based off someone else's suggestions earlier in the thread.
It feels like easy mode, really. People basically have to choose whether to run from me, or die. If they run, I last hit like crazy in lanes and get tons of gold and exp, and just push straight for nexus. I haven't played any 5v5 yet though, so maybe I won't do as well. We'll see.
I had ridiculous amounts of fun playing both Cho'Gath and Mundo for the first time (in non-botmatch/non-in-house) games today. Won both of 'em too.
Random note I'm reminded of because of Mundo: Does anyone else require line skill shots (cleavers, bindings, whatever) to be on smart cast in order to hit them? For some reason I never hit them when I have to use regular cast
But other spells, I need to have on regular cast... AoE, clickies, etc

I occasionally try and smartcast, but it's so alien since I don't use it, so I get more bang out of flick casting with a quick Q + jerk the mouse + cast.
Alternatively, with Mundo, I just run into their face and hit Q in any direction since I'm in their face.
Oh yeah smart cast is great for shields where you need to snap cast while a spell is in the air too
Forgot about that
Things where you want to close into range and then use it I don't like having on smart cast because I always wind up accidentally casting them on creeps and shit like that or just don't know the range
Like when I'm playing Kassadin I so very much prefer his Q to be a regular cast

Maybe I would play a better Shen if I switched his Shadow Dash to smart cast. That's a thought!
Still doesn't fix my utter lack of map awareness during the laning phase though. But part of that is my fucking UI doesn't work. Health bars on the side bug out constantly and like forget to update unless I click to target the person. I just need to use the F keys to constantly snap my screen to other lanes I guess...

What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? ~ Mario Novak
I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
I have no idea how to play this game. I have never played DOTA or anything like it before, and basically don't even know what it is.
So I decided to play this.
I did the tutorial thing and played a few matches against bots as Garen, and I kinda have a vague idea as to how this shit is meant to work.
But now I think I have to play a real game vs real people and I am TERRIFIED.
There are so many abbreviations of things that I don't know. WTF does it all mean? Can I just go into a game and walk along a lane and kill shit without people screaming abuse at me for not doing it right?

Luckily, the game matchmakes you with other terrible people who also have no idea what they're doing.
Honestly, just jump in. You'll get better, and anyone who yells at you is a terrible person. If people ask you to do stuff, try it out.
Try to find a character or three you like and can do decently with, and stick with them. Once you get a decent handle of the game mechanics, look at a guide here and there just to get an idea of how to better use your characters, and a direction to build items and whatnot with.

You will probably be better than a lot of 30s if you just play passively, don't let the enemy kill you because you thought you could get a kill but the guy did a thing and it didn't work out and stuff. Just don't die.

I'm done tanking for teams that wont leave the fucking tower
A lot of my losses are from people (usually tanks) forcing pushes where we didn't need to force a push. Like we get ahead then they decided okay I'm just going to dive the tower, or almost as bad, run in and melee the tower and give the enemy team lots of free damage on us while we take it down.
This wouldn't be such a problem if people were more patient and understood how to slow-push a tower safely, but this rarely happens in my games.
On the flip side I've come back to win many games where the enemy team, who were ahead, got impatient and decided to push against five by diving the tower and trying to teamfight while tanking tower hits.
It's really super hard to break anything but an outer turret if it's defended in equal numbers against you. And it's totally okay to assert your map control when you have the advantage by forcing a fight over Baron, taking every dragon, taking all the buffs, roaming looking for picks or fights outside a tower, and generally building your lead.
On the other hand it's true that when you have a decisive advantage in numbers and/or health that's an opportunity to push (or take Baron) and you should definitely use it to do one of the two.
But generally speaking forcing things in this game is a huge cause of losing games and it's correct to be wary of making risky plays. Keep taking small advantages where you can get them until you see an opportunity to take a decisive advantage without great risk.
Knowing how to play when you're ahead is super important in LoL.

i would say if you are just starting out, focus on having fun
(this is mostly because all accounts under level 10 are in their own matchmaking bracket, so you are usually either with smurfs of players or genuine noobies such as yourself!)

Here, let me lay it down for you.
My team consists ofShen(me), Ashe, Olaf, Annie, and Lux vs. Sivir, Amumu, Xin, Teemo, and someone one, can't remember. By the 25 minute mark they had 3 of our towers down and we had none of theirs down. My team refused to leave the towers because they were too scared of the other team.
My team also had garbage builds. They could not deal any damage. For instance, we were all in the jungle chasing Amumu (he had used his ult at our tower in hopes of escaping) and Teemo, the rest of their team comes in after Teemo dies and I taunt all of them (they were in a straight line) and after it wears off they decide to continue to focus me. I survived for about 6 seconds and my team did not manage to kill a single fucking person. They did not kill any of them.
So I really don't think it had much to do with impatience and instead dealt with complete fucking cowardice to do anything at all and garbage builds.
I don't know, I might be wrong, maybe pushing towers is not the only way to win, maybe my team was changing how this game worked. Either way they refused to follow me so that I could initiate a fight and would not leave the base after a while

Sigh.
I don't understand why someone picks Singed and then spends the entire game solo pushing top lane and ignoring objectives.
Like, you're not the super greatest of backdoor champions, we really need you in the team fight because we're either barely winning or barely losing, come help us? =/
