The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I'm searching for a (pc) game that will meet the following requirements:
-multiplayer mode for about 4-8 people
-easy to learn, short familiarisation time
-provides fun for a quite a few games (1-2 weeks)
Ideally it should be a mixture of action and real-time strategy with a fantasy or science-fiction setting, but I'm open for any ideas, except First Person Shooters or turn-based games.
We played WC3 custom maps (DotA, TD, ...) for quite a while now, but we would like an alternative to that. Games like Multiplayer Tetris, but a little more complex.
What about Defcon? Real-time global thermonuclear war with stylized graphics. It was fairly big here when it was released, but the popularity seems to have died pretty quickly...
It's on steam, with a demo.
I believe the recent big MP RTS titles would be Company of Heroes (WWII theme) and Dawn of War plus its expansions (Warhammer 40k theme).
Some hack&slash RPGs I recall ATM are Titan Quest and Sacred, maybe also Guildwars?
robaal on
"Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra when suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath.
At night, the ice weasels come."
Yep, I completely ignored your 'no turn based' rule because Worms pushes through arbitrary barriers like that.
:^: :^: :^:
I just found a copy for PS1 that thankfully will give me the fix I need since I haven't had a PC to install my regular version on in years. Damn hell.
Worms is so fargin' exxxxxcellent.
Champions of Norrath on PS2 is good multiplayer, but you need a multitap and friends that can cooperate (moreso for shopping and trading items without getting into screaming matches). Still good though.

I'll try DefCon first, sounds pretty awesome.
