I tried to install a lighting mod for Minecraft and something somewhere went horribly, horribly wrong. Now Java refuses to uninstall or install due to a missing DLL file and I think I've narrowed it down to
npjpi160_23.dll
After seeing this error in my registry repair log
"The default value in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{CAFEEFAC-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA}/InprocServer32 points to the missing file C:/Program Files/Java/jre6/bin/npjpi160_23.dll"
which I have no idea what to do about. Google only brings up a couple pages and most aren't in english. How do I get this .dll back on my machine ?
Considering every Google search reveals Virus related posts... I'm going to guess you caught something, and Java is being protected to protect the virus... or you just got a virus.
FWIW, I looked that up on my own machine and it seems to be the Netscape Navigator plugin component, only I have version 11 rather than 23. What do you mean by "Java refuses to install or uninstall"? Why are you trying to uninstall Java anyway? What installer and version are you using?
I'd be really, really surprised if I've contracted a virus. Things got bad when I started messing around with my registry and not making back ups and moving my Java folder from Programs Files (x86) to Program Files.
I'm trying to uninstall Java so I can reinstall Java. I've attempted multiple versions, but I just want the latest. Version 6, Update 23. "npjpi160_23.dll"
