Still on the fence between Marathon and Hacker. On one hand, being able to get around the map that much faster is awesome. On the other, always knowing whether or not a claymore is waiting around the corner or where players are camped out is also awesome.
Claymores have moved up to 2nd in "Most Death to Equipment" stat after I started using Lightweight/Mara for 95% of my classes.
When I was first using it I was poping dudes left right and centre but its range is really really really lacking. Or is this true for all shotguns?
The Stakeout is passable until you realize the SPAS-12 and HS-10 have around the same damage output with the added bonus of being semi-automatic.
the Stakeout is an extremely short range weapon. Just outside of knife range pretty much. The other two have slightly more range, but not much.
I looked at its stats and well I must have glazed over that important bit.
Now I want to know why it has to be like that. No range is lame range
if you meant you looked at the bars in-game, they are filthy fucking lies in every CoD game.
Always.
They mean less than nothing.

Real tired of pubs and many of my friends or on hiatus fro Blops...I am in the pa mw2 clan, but do not see many folks on. Name is the same there so if a few of you regulars could add me I would be in your debt.
Also saw a good one today, guy clearly running Ghost...not on radar, no name above him etc...but he was wearing the hardline gear. I am fine with it if it's just an avatar hack...but it made me wonder what else he had going on.
What? Stakeout has the second highest range (olympia is first), the lowest spread, and 40 damage per pellet rather than 30 for the SPAS and HS-10. So it's the most reliable shotgun for one-hit-kills but still quite poor because it's not reliable enough.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh silly game designers. If the Stakeout has the highest range then I guess what everyone has been saying about shotguns is as bad as I feared.
At least its fun when it is reliable.

Because IW did it in CoD4 and Treyarchdecided to steal it forever.
If you want real gun charts, they are in the OP.
And, yes, all the shotguns in this game are worse in this game that a single 1887 from MW2
It's true that mos people in public ames tend to treat Domination as TDM.
What's it take to get into PA games, anyhow? My PS3 name is the same as that on here. I'd call myself mediocre, 1.17 k/d.
i play on ps3
also burtle, i do deal with it when my team mates rc car-- i put a claymore close to them.
I have trouble killing anyone with any shotgun at anything greater than say 5 meters. I followed a guy all over the damn place on Firing Range shooting him and hearing the hit-marker noise and I just couldn't kill him. 8 shots from the SPAS and he just kept running away. His teammate came around a corner and shot me in the face with an ak74
I just got this and have started playing, so far I'm mostly liking shotguns and suppressed weapons. My GT is fsmith1 if anyone wants to play.
Shotguns are weak in this game (two hits to kill most of the time, extremely short range), but can be a lot of fun on some maps. Silencers are good, because they keep you from showing up on the radar when you shoot. Silencers also shorten the range on weapons. It feels like FAMAS + silencer is one of the most common weapons in the game.
Somehow, I always wind up with the guys who insist on clumping up for easy multi kills, never against them. And I typically wind up with the guys who run Ghost + motion sensor/camera and camp TDM. I run around and play and those guys just hide. Very frustrating.
Not tonight.
Tonight, I had an aggravating match in Cracked. It was one of those times were you join an active match. The spawns must have flipped right before I joined. There were motion sensors all over the areas around our spawn, other team was apparently a party on a camping trip. Man it was not fun at all. Someone ragequit and it turned out they were the host.

And that's why you don't have your whole fucking team looking in the same direction.

At some point you think someone would notice the blue/green arrows vanishing off the map.

Sometimes if I'm doing particularly bad in a TDM, I'll find someone camping and watch his back, put up a claymore, watch the exits. For some reason I always think this is a good idea, until someone jacks me from behind because the moron I was "guarding" jumped out the window or something.

Yeah, I play at odd hours, since I don't have a job right now. I play during the day, usually mornings. I live on the East Coast. So most everyone I know is either at work, or asleep if they are to the West. As a result of non-party objective game types being a goddamned joke 75% of the time, I play mostly merc TDM.
If you play merc TDM, forget about team work. It is every man for himself.

THIS. THIS SO FUCKING HARD.
Or someone running hacker saw the claymore from afar and figured out a way to flank you. ;-)
