Sometimes if I'm doing particularly bad in a TDM, I'll find someone camping and watch his back, put up a claymore, watch the exits. For some reason I always think this is a good idea, until someone jacks me from behind because the moron I was "guarding" jumped out the window or something.
THIS. THIS SO FUCKING HARD.
Or someone running hacker saw the claymore from afar and figured out a way to flank you. ;-)
The point is he wouldn't have gotten flanked if his pal had his back, i mean you try be nice...
Why people play merc over normal tdm I'll never understand.
When I play TDM, I run into parties of dudes. I play solo most of the time. I used to run into a lot of parties that would do something obnoxious, like all run ghost with motion sensors and camp.
After switching to the Mac 11 I must say my enjoyment went up about two notches. I'll keep the shotgun class around but it won't be my go to kit any more thats for sure.

This is the only instance of gun is good but knives are pro I will accept. If you can't do this constantly then use your bullets before the guy you endlessly chase kills 3 of your team.
*Has issues of watching Team mates let the enemy rack up kills because they got to knife*
Well heres a few helpful tips for you to succeed in CTF.
Use a gun your good with, and if your going to camp do so in an area where your actually going to get a kill. I don't give two shits if you took on a dragunov challenge and you do need kills with it, theres a goddamn fifteen second respawn time and me sitting in there watching you look at the worlds worst sniping position each time I'm there doesn't help.
And heres a crazy idea...Turn off you choppergunner/dogs/hind/SR71 killstreak and put a spyplane in there and then when the other team takes our flag toss that little guy out there. Crazy concept holding onto it but it puts this little fucking KILL ME arrow over the guys head makes it so much easier to find him and kill him.
Speaking of flags when someone one your team grabs the flag how about clearing a path for him, or heck if you want to camp camp in a spot where he just passed so you can snag any stragglers that are chasing him. Or clear out our flag capture area, when the guy who keeps grabbing the flag does so enough times in a single game to meet the marathon flag requirement he might appreciate it if you helped him out.
Oh and hey! When he has the flag all of you shitheads need to go and find the guy, the other teammate who has the flag made that easy for you by getting that little FUCKING KILL THIS GUY arrow up on your mini maps, but don't all of you go running off now...keep one guy back to help the flag runner defend himself. Sometimes the guy who was running the flag all the time goes out and finds and kills the other teams guy with the flag...this is your cue to CAPTURE THE FLAG not stand around like a goddamn idiot, pull that thumb out of your ass and use it to move the thumbstick towards the capture point.
Finally and this is an important tip, if you lose the game because you and your other asshat teammates did nothing and left the flag guy to fend for himself and even in the final kill cam you can watch the flag guy kill four goddamn people and get taken out by the fifth out of a team of six people while the other guy you five worthless twats are looking for who is standing on their fucking capture point...Don't under any circumstances tell that man he sucks and that he was the reason you lost.
Fuck each and every one of you worthless cunts.
Sincerely,
The guy who had 43 kills, 19 deaths, 18 flag grabs, and 26 flag returns.

i was playing hc earlier and I saw a teammate (pug) hiding in a bush. Since my usual fashion is running around killing fucks, I decided that since I had just spawned near him that it would be most fitting if I shot him, and I proceeded to do so. He didn't react at all and actually started to move around after that. I was proud of him. We won that game with him in second and me in first, 3.0 or so I believe.

you got some damn fine points.
Oh want to know the best part?
Final score: 6-2
Out of 18 grabs I had TWO captures and the rest of the time I spent finding and killing the flag runner the rest of the team had a combined 7 grabs and 4 stops.
Yeah, I play at odd hours, since I don't have a job right now. I play during the day, usually mornings. I live on the East Coast. So most everyone I know is either at work, or asleep if they are to the West. As a result of non-party objective game types being a goddamned joke 75% of the time, I play mostly merc TDM.
I'm on during the daytime here and there. Also with the no-jobness. Invite me into a party if you're online. There only seem to be a couple of PS3 guys who still log on after that first honeymoon week or two, and I can never jump into matches without getting a full lobby message. If there's a time you're normally on during the day, I'll show up.
Also, as mentioned a couple of pages ago, I had notifications turned off and may have missed previous invites. Notifications back on now.
Ok that does it. I'm trying out the balistic knife. I wanna be that cool.
High Risk/High Reward situation there.
short range combat with ballistic knife requires good reflexes, aim, and timing. Often times you and the enemy run past each other when you try to knife and you both circle strafe around until you find each other again, this is where you either hope you see them first for the kill or play it safe and retreat to another room.
At mid range it requires good tactics and luck, since 1 shotgun blast to the chest/short burst from an smg can kill you before you can react. The way you succeed is closing the distance FAST, strafing their fire, and the luck part comes from catching them unawares and them losing their aim from panic because a madman is coming at them with a knife.
Long range takes planning: stuns/flashbangs, drawing enemies out, flanking their position, and retreating. You can try to rush a guy from 20-40 yards but unless you're peppering them with your primary or have them blind/stunned you're going to die. weaving through cover helps but the best way to engage long range is just to lure them to you or attempt to run behind their position.
you want to roll with Lightweight pro/Steady Aim pro/Marathon pro ideally because
Lightweight- makes you faster than the enemy and ensures you can't be outrun Steady aim PRO- recovering quickly from a missed swing may save your ass plus it'll help you chain-stab a group of enemies Marathon- because you absolutely need to outrun the enemy and close the distance between you.
Other advice: Run and stab, fall back and hide. Never try to directly go for an enemy that's facing you that isn't close enough to damage with a Shotgun. go in fast, and hide when you need a breather/heal.
This was pretty much always known and is common knowledge. Even with "hurr dedicated servers" there can still be huge amounts of variance between one person and another. I don't understand people who think it isn't the case.
I.E. if you are 2,000 miles or more away from the host, whether it's a server or another person's XBOX, IT WILL BE FUCKING LAGGY.

Playing on the PC with an oftentimes < 30 ms ping you still tend to see the same sort of thing. Definately not to the extent that it is on the Xbox or was with MW2 though.
Hell of a way to end a match. I joined late, and tossed a frag over one of the houses on Nuketown. It landed between the poor sod's legs, he actually tripped on it before it killed him and ended the game.
Also... lovin' the Commando, it's easily my best gun by K/D since I unlocked it.

You know how I know host advantage is a thing? I have a class for that.
When I'm the host, I pull out the Olympia. Normal games, struggle to pull off a positive KDR with it. When I have host, I do stupid stuff like 32-5 in TDM.
Statistical evidence points to either latency/host issues.... or some magic shotgun fairy.

Higher percentage of non-teamed enemies. Makes the odds of finding people who have their crap together if you're on your own much lower.

Make sure you have marathon pro first, otherwise it's not very fun

Depends on if you have a mexican connection.
Not trying to sound racist or anything but most connections from south of the border are 1-2 bar in game that I've seen and that is no es bueno
If your connection is good I can hop back on for a few games with you.
Edit: I guess we have some arch thing
I'll be on in two minutes and send you a friend request...you'll know the name when you see it.
Because MTDM is super super easy mode?

Host advantage HEAVILY favours aggressive play, which is why shotguns get very silly very quickly.

That was a little silly.
I wish more people would use spy planes, Ghost pro is taking ages.
e: unless all of them were going for hardened pro?
With dual Pythons?
Not bad :P
As was shown today, I can do well with the RPK on a 2 bar, so neener-neener.
You all got to use the Uzi more, especially if you have low expectations!
I know the event isn't rare, but for me the timing is perfect.
I haven't really tested Hardened Pro.
Personally I prefer SoH, but Hardened is fucking broken.
