The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
AMD have removed support for "older" versions of OpenGL from their Radeon graphics card drivers. This rather leaves me in a bit of a jam because I was hoping to play through Quake II again. Then I remembered that, aha, iD made iD Tech 2 open-source way back when and, as with the Doom engine, there are probably lots of alternative engine options. I also figure now's a good time to dig up a Windows-based engine for the original Quake, because playing the game with the engine included in the Steam release hurts my eyes (and because GLQuake doesn't work).
Unfortunately Googling for "quake engine windows" or variations thereupon hasn't done me much good.
I imagine that some of you out there in webnet land have a better idea of what to look for than I do, so I'll throw the question out there: Can anyone recommend decent Quake and Quake II engines for Windows?
I always liked Tenebrae for Q1, but it's been a while since I checked out what the latest and greatest was on that front.

Tenebrae and Telejano are pretty much gone at this point. You can still get the last builds that they put out, but I don't think anyone is keeping those projects up to date. They were pretty damn cool though. One of the main reasons I mention ezQuake these days is that it's still under development. Not to mention that it's pretty awesome.

For Quake II, R1Q2 is pretty nice.
