Sure, it'd be hilarious, but Garrus' sister? Not happening...

I just picked up Mass Effect 2 for PS3, downloaded the free content, and installed it. I keep my PS3 offline though most of the time because for some reason it slows down loading times by a ridiculous amount and makes cutscenes stutter like crazy for it to be connected to the network. The question is, do I have to be connected to the network for the DLC to work?

Not on the PS3, as far as I'm aware.

So is there actually a "game complete" save or is any save after the credits a "complete" save? I ask because on my second playthrough I was skipping all the end cutscenes, and got to the credits, hit x and accidentily hit "a" or "b" before I realized the dialog box was coming up. I can't remember if that was a "do you want to skip the credits?" dialog box, or a "do you want to make a game complete file?" dialog box. Afterwords I played and saved the game and whatnot, just want to make sure I'm in good shape for ME3, what with having everyone loyal and still intact and whatnot.

try starting a new game plus run, if you can't, then you don't have the save you need.

Sweet. Also, a general 360 question, dlc is tied to an xbl Aaccount, right? So if I delete an arcade game or dlc for a game I don't play anymore, I can redownload it for free right?

Yup. Go to Manage Account > Download History (IIRC, it got moved around in the last dash update). It'll still show up there even if it gets pulled from the Marketplace (I've got a handful of XBLA games that aren't on the MP any more, but DH lets me redownload them).

    Might just be.

Even going back after eleventy billion hours of ME2, I found it very easy to focus on the stuff ME1 did right - in several cases better than ME2; yes, yes, I know, ME1 haters, burn the heretic - and look past the stuff it got wrong.

Yeah, it's still alright, on the whole.

And the combat is kinda fun on normal with a bulletproof soldier.

But the ammo stuff, and the mods, and the endless waves of identical rifles...

There's some hiccups, what I'm saying.

The lack of mods is one of the worst parts of ME2.

Err...weapon/armor mods. Though having to use a 3rd party coaleced editor is pretty annoying too.

    Not to mention the ending.

It threw me at first (Udina-outrage.jpg etc), but the cooldown time is so quick as to be inconsequential, and it's a lot more convenient.

    Really.

Because my primary memory of mods in ME1 was picking up dozens of the things with almost no effect, and no good way to filter them.

And they became obsolete pretty quick.

Armor mods, some were okay, but ammo mods...

Yeah. ME2 made the right move.

They serve the same purpose, but they're more balanced and presented differently. ME2 even has more lore behind the upgrades, but you don't see any of it in-game. Hopefully that's fixed in ME3.

If you call being able to slap a couple frictionless materials to make the gun able to never stop firing, or being able to turn up the damage so that it can do twice the damage at the cost of overeheating in one shot "no effect"? It's certainly a lot more customization than a flat 25% more damage for a certain weapon type.

That's a total cop-out. The gameplay can't be irrelevant if you have to actually indulge in it to get anywhere in the game.
