So I just finished Crysis. Had a lot of fun, even the trippy bit in the mountain. One question, though (ending):
Erm, are we going to get any closure on what happened to Nomad and Helena? I was all jazzed up about returning to the island and then the credits rolled.
All the story trailers for Crysis 2 mention Prophet and nothing else, which worries me.
Sorry to dust your hopes, but if you watch the latest Prophet trailer it says he
was the only one in his squad to make it off Lingshan island. Alcatraz is the new protagonist, but it's kind of weird, in the trailer you see brief shots of Alcatraz in US Rangers gear, but somehow he is in the suit as well. I wonder if he goes into a lab with a chatty scientist, a goofy guard and a stubborn bitch to get the suit. Or he somehow acquires it another way. Beats me.
SUPER MEGA SPOILERS
Last Warning
In Crysis 2 you get a flashback that shows Prophet arguing with the evil immortal corporate guy regarding how he "used" Prophet's Squad to test the suits against the Ceph. Though Prophet talked like Nomad and Psycho perished it obviously sounded like an open ending. I have a feeling that we'll see them again.

Anyone who has downloaded it, get in vent. lets get a late night game going.
I would but I'm moving my steam install which apparently is taking over an hour :l
I probably won't have a chance to play until later today, but I installed it and looked a little at the menus. No dropdown menu for resolutions, so you have to go through all of them to get the one you want and there are seemingly no advanced graphics settings and the three presets have the retarded names "gamer", "advanced" and "hardcore".
I'm not excited about it being Gamespy in any way, but hopefully it having a pre-joining-of-game party system, hopefully playing with friends will be manageable.

What?
Man, I spent ages tweaking Crysis to get MAXIMUM visuals whilst still maintaing a good framerate, why take those options away?
Ah well, I presume all those settings will be in the .ini files to configure, but still. Humbug I say. HUMBUG.

I didn't have too much trouble with using Gamespy for Crysis Wars, so I'm not too worried about that. It's not really the best system, but it's not like it's the worst system I've ever used either.

Hey mang, you're lucky they even give you that. A proper-grade console port would give you a few sets of resolutions (if you're lucky, it might be even one that you want to use) and then say, "Fuck you, you're using these settings I have hardcoded now asshole."
Didn't Crysis Wars just have a server browser? I get the impression that they're doing matchmaking for this.
The demo has servers lists. And I don't think it shows them to you based on any sort of skilled matchmaking system.
I want to kiss the man that left in the party system in the PC version, though. Going to make playing with friends so much easier and frankly it blows my mind that more PC games don't have one.

Oh, okay.
Absolutely agreed about the party system. It's always annoying to try to find a server with enough space for you and your friends and oops, those other spots filled up while you were loading. Bonus points if it keeps parties on the same team.

So, just got done playing for a couple of hours. It is like Call of Duty is almost every way. Sure they tweaked a few things, but it feel just about the same. It has kill streaks, custom classes with 3 perks and 2 weapons attachments, ect. It has the same bad spawn system that COD has. Twitch shooting wins engagements. I have still not been able to fully figure everything out, but I think armor mode decreases your damage as well as your speed.
There were a lot of people getting a lot of really fast kills on me tonight. It felt like it took a rather large number of bullets to take someone down. The guns feel floaty so it is hard to aim at someone's head. The hit detection for me was way off.

Stuck on creating account lol
Twitch shooting wins engagements.
For me cod was about spray rather than twitch
or do you mean "he who shoots first wins" not "he who pulls off clutch headshot" wins
or do you mean "he who shoots first wins" not "he who pulls off clutch headshot" wins
If you've created a Gamespy account for another game, you should be able to use it for this too. I just logged in with the same account that I use for Borderlands.

I'd say I was disappointed, but really, Crysis 1's multiplayer wasn't all that interesting to me, and I'm still mainly looking to get this for the singleplayer.
I still hold out some hope that that hasn't gone all CoD on me as well.

On the plus side, it runs waaaaay better than Crysis 1's MP. And the levels show off the lighting tricks well too.
I thought the manteling was fun too. But that mostly makes me just want brink to come out sooner

Yeah see, this is why I didn't really give a shit about getting the opportunity to play the multiplayer demo. It looks and sounds like they included everything that I disliked about CoD's multiplayer and kept little of what I liked about Crysis 1's.
Say what you will about Crysis Wars, but at least that shit played out in a rather unique way. And large maps. And vehicles. And ffffffffffu why the shit does everything have to ape call of duty god

I don't get why they didn't focus on suit powers rather than ride the cod bandwagon
maybe in the short term it will give them an artificial boost to mp numbers, at least on the consoles, but it doesn't seem like a good long term product strategy
ESPECIALLY when it's being done by the guys who did timesplitters

So Crysis of Duty confirmed then eh? But with worse gun handling? Awesome.
Meh, I'll still download the demo, but I fully expect MAXIMUM DISAPPOINTMENT.
I can't say I really noticed any lag, but then again, I'm not the best at telling with that kind of thing. The dedicated servers probably helped though, my ping was in the 80s and it was still pretty smooth

How are you guys playing this? I can't create an account with mycrysis and logging into gamepsy accounts does nothing for me either.
I just logged in with my existing Gamespy account. Try going to the Gamespy website and log in there and then try in-game again. That seemed to fix the problems I had with logging in to Gamespy in FEAR 2 back when I first played it.

Still nothing.
I'll just have to wait until they fix the problem.

That didn't work for me at all
Can't create an account on mycrysis.com either. The Create Account button in Chrome doesn't work, and in IE it "works", then just sits there creating my account forever.

how big was it o.O
Should be about 1.6gb. EA servers are fast tonight.
