Hey guys, I think I need some tech support here. The game is telling me to press start to begin, but it looks like I don't have that key. Is there a way around this or do I have to upgrade my keyboard?

THAT'S ANOTHER THING
why do games ALWAYS HAVE that fucking POINTLESS SCREEN that just makes me push a button for no fucking reason
I'm sure I'm late to the party of "wait gamespy?" but seriously, wait gamespy? If borderlands hadn't come out not too long ago I'd be saying I didn't know gamespy still existed.
Granted I've been able to actually log in, but it doesn't seem like Gamespy's a detriment to the multiplayer itself so far. At least from the few minutes I played anyway.

Why would they use anything else? Why would they embrace Steam when they have their competing cloud-based store?
Not saying I agree but I can see why they wouldn't use Steam (which is my platform of choice for things like multiplayer)

Not impressed so far. Suit powers are just plain negligible. With armour on you just die 20% less fast. This reeks of CoD through and through and I'm just plain pissed off at the lack of graphics options. Fucking Crytek gave us a console port.
Finally got into the damn game, but I am unable to join any servers. My internet tested fine. It says unable to connect to host on the dozen or so servers I tried with varying ping.

I can't join any servers either, but I was able to play fine earlier.
Actually, I believe M rated games must have a front title screen that is for general audiences and can no longer go into an attract video due to ESRB rules. Something about how nobody can claim they were unwillingly shown M rated content or something.

Conclusion 1: Stealth is the only suit mode that may make a slight bit of difference in a fight.
Conclusion 2: The aiming is so fucking weird for some reason.
Stop.
Don't do anything. Don't even think about doing anything before going into your shortcut and changing the target to look like "+cl_fov=90" or whatever value you want. Hopefully it'll stop you from blowing chunks due to the fucking 30 or whatever fov.
Nothing can fix the back-asswards serverlist though.
I think the "press start" screen was at one point an archaic thing that the console manufacturers forced developers to include, I have no idea why it's still done but it gets carried over into lazy PC ports these days.

Yea, that's what I've heard. I actually like title screens myself, call me crazy but I liked them even more when they were super fancy and flashy. (Killer Instinct Gold, One Must Fall 2097, Robotron 2084, and so on)
Just confirming, you can't actually unlock any new guns in the demo, or can you?
Whatever, this has been incredibly unfun for me. I've never been a fan of the hyperlethal shooters where whoever shoots first wins. It tends to favour good snipers and leads to boring ass weapons- a variety of ARs, SMGs, snipers and shotguns with maybe a grenade launcher or something. Woohoo. Still, I've played them and had enough fun.
But the biggest problem with this demo is the fucking motion blur. Someone starts running and they're just this brown splotch that I can't hit and now I'm dead; I've got most of my points taking the crash pods. I mean, it's not even the pace of the game or anything; I can hold my own in UT and Quake (though yeah, I tend to prefer the relatively slower paced games like BF) but I am getting intense motion sickness here, a first in all of my gaming years. After playing for a couple hours, I had more fun with the MOH beta and that game was shit.
E: Oh, yeah it looks pretty and runs nicely on my poor laptop so that's a plus. And the whole mantling system and vertical map design's neat.
I honestly wasn't expecting anything worthwhile out of the multiplayer in the first place, it's just a shame they didn't go for a single player demo. It's an odd choice, you'd think showing people the crazy pretty campaign visuals would do a lot more for convincing people to buy the game than HEY GUY OUR GAME IS KINDA LIKE COD BUT SHITTIER
So, GAMESPY powered multiplayer, required user account for demo (harvests emails for advertising), completely inscrutable graphics customization (your choices are ADVANCED, HARDCORE, and GAMER, whatever the fuck those mean, with no fine tuning options whatsoever).
The gunplay feels loose and unsatisfying (the only remotely powerful feeling gun is a detatched mounted machine gun), the camera jeers around very "immersively" but it's a bit disorienting and annoying.
On the positive, I'm very impressed by how well optimized the game is and it's quite pretty. I look forward to a dirt cheap discount single player experience in the very distant future.
I've gotten the delightful catch 22 of having an account name that doesn't work, and an email address that's already registered. Every variation on my gamespy or fileplanet account has failed, half of them are supposed to be impossible. I've even changed it manually, still doesn't work.
And the official site has been completely broken all day, so I can't even try a password recovery.
This game is pretty lame browser wise. I rather take instant match making right now then this broken shit. Also fuck the lack of settings for graphics. The fuck does gamer mean other then an insult in SE++?
Looks fine and the plus so far compared to 360 is no in game texture loading.
So I take it that there isn't anything like the first game's possibly multi day warzone matches in MP?
If so, then fuck this game. That was the best part about the game, once you got done with SP.
Seriously, the first game's MP had enormous amounts of potential with a complicated spin on the ol' capture the points gameplay and I think I preferred the money per game system to the persistent one. Also you could buy handheld nukes and blackhole tanks and just blow people up instead of any basekilling nonsense.
Oh, and it also gave us the amazing Mechwarrior mod.

Singularity has it
mass effect 2 has it
this game has it
WHY IS IT THERE?
It's still pretty silly that it's on by default.

why would they keep it
Surely it takes like 3 secs to just remove it
Ace job Crytek, EA, Gamespy.

@NanoSmartCasual - Account creation should now be functioning correctly in the PC demo, if you have any problems let me know.

I see a bunch of servers that show a ping of 0 and I can't connect to those. I can connect just fine to servers that show a ping.
I tried out 90 FOV and discovered that it can be used to see through walls. It also gives a slight fisheye lens effect.
Ill give it a shot.
It's so in the future they can put 'insert credit(s)' on that screen and charge people to play all of their games.

Works, and surprisingly, even with all the bad stuff, I quite like the game. And it runs pretty smoothly on my SLI'd 9900GTX's.
