Use Entropic Death.
Basically:
Debuff spells stack with each other AND scale with spellpower:
Therefore put hex of vulnerability and the other one on top of each other, cast death cloud with your highest spell power mage then cycle through death hexes. BAM dragon 3-shot
I hope I can get the achievements for killing 500 and 1000 Darkspawn sometime soon.
Considering I've got all the origins played through, one of them through Ostagar, one of them through the entire game with the Archdemon fight loaded twice and then a third save where I ran from Landsmeet to the end again (for three of four endings) and then I've got another save that's almost to the Landsmeet, and ANOTHER save almost to the Landsmeet... Oh, and the most recent one is my Arcane Warrior, where I've just put my party on Hold and killed all the Darkspawn myself, so almost the entirety of the count of Darkspawn killed for that playthrough is just the main character...

What system are you playing on? That will determine which glitch you have for those.
What are the most broken spell combinations? Trying to finish off a mage playthrough, want it to take absolutely no effort. Typically I just spam elemental spells and swing a two handed sword now and then.
Combinations? what are those? If you can't solve the problem with Cone of Cold and/or Crushing Prison then you're doing it wrong. Casters in DA are hands down, flat out, no holds barred broken. I am amazed there are people playing on easy, tbh. You can comfortably walk 99% of the game with 2 casters on custom auto-pilot.
Let me clarify, I'm not playing on easy because I think it's difficult. I'm playing on easy because I find the combat horrible, slow, and boring. Therefore, putting it on easy allows me to steamroll through it even easier than normal.

I've heard this before and I'm curious: why play if you don't enjoy the combat? It's sort of all there is to the game. What keeps you going?

If you see some opposing mage ever, cast mana clash.
I fixed that for you.
Seriously, mana clash is one of those must-have spells because 1) it does so much damage, and 2) at least half the enemies in the game (if not more) have mana. So you'll always find a use for it.
maybe its because i enjoyed FFXII but i honestly don't mind the combat too much. I wish i had more conditions to tweak the tactics, or at least the menu system for it is a little clearer. i am sure things i am looking for are hidden somewhere.
The thing that blows my mind is how some fights i can still get absolutely destroyed in one time and then the next attempt is a cake walk.

No puppies? Ok, who ruined puppies for the rest of us?
I enjoyed the combat, but that's probably just me. My next run will be whenever I scoop up Ultimate Edition, and I'd like to do a max difficulty run through all of the content.
I thought some of the fights were challenging, but it might just me being bad at games. I remember having to reload a few times for the fight where you are betrayed escaping the castle or whatever. It's been over a year, so I don't remember a lot of details. I think you are fighting Loghain's female lieutenant and a bazillion archers or whatever.
So I picked up some Commander Warden (IIRC) armour for my elf female. I am getting hella graphical glitches. Her arms are stuck right up behind her back, and just composed of the gloves and shoulders. But it's fine on Alistair. Is this a known glitch or?

Even though it's possible to win that fight, you're expected to lose it, which gives you a whole extra sequence where you're captured.

I enjoy most of the characters (that was the reason for my second full playthrough). Normally I'll start a new game and make it up through the Mage Tower before getting bored. This playthrough is really just to get a character to import to DA2.

I'm on 360. I'm doing the "reload Alienage, kill Darkspawn, do a new save file, reload" trick, and I got the "kill 500 Darkspawn" achievement last night, so it's working for me.
Just need to put in an hour or two to get 500 more Darkspawn kills. Luckily, I had exactly 700 Darkspawn kills up to that point on this character, so it's easy to tell how many I kill each go.

It sure is a pain but glad you figured out that method to do it. Good luck finishing out blight-queller without having to reload too many more times!
Is there a reason Temple of Vulak and (I think it was called) Undead Tombs aren't listed in the recommended mods section? I played through both of those mods and they were a ton of fun.

It's just annoying that apparently pre-patch ALL darkspawn kills counted, which would mean I'd have had it like three weeks ago.
The only thing about Witch Hunt, Leliana's Song, Darkspawn Chron and Golems that integrates into the main story are the bonus items you get for completing them that spawn in your inventory. Return to Ostegar, Warden's Keep and The Stone Prisoner are the only DLC content that spans the main course of the game.

Character: Sword 'n' Board Warrior, Templar/Champion
Role: damage, crowd control, ability to off tank as needed
Quandry: Heavy Dragonscale armor or Dragonbone Plate?
It's really a question of whether the big fatigue hit is worth the extra armor. Shale is usually tanking, but I like that my Warden can pick it up as needed. Or is the armor from Warden's Keep considered better? I could use some input.

Why are you using a sword and shield warrior for damage and crowd control?

Holy shit. That fight was the exact moment I decided I hated DA. Also my warrior was terrible and I pumped Str/Con and didn't understand how armor affected aggro. And used the activated powers instead of passives to maximize dps. And then managed to make it so hard on myself I had to drop it to Easy on a mage reroll.
I honestly had no idea that I was terrible at Dragon Age. I may have misjudged the entire experience.

Because it's fun and stylish. Do you have any input on the question for discussion?

The best part about that fight is my entire party died except for Barkspawn and somehow he managed to solo save the day by chugging fifty or so health potions. I honestly have no idea how I managed to do it, but Dread Howl was absolutely invaluable.

Well, if fatigue is your concern, the Warden Commander armor gives a pretty big bonus to fatigue if you're wearing the entire set. So you should probably go with that.
Weapon and shield warriors are generally fairly bad at damage in general, though.

True, if I wanted a powerhouse, I'd play another bloodmage or assassin. But this character is a TON of fun.
Almost everything he does incapacitateS enemies. Combine that with some high strength and a Star Fang and his damage is respectable. Dwarf bonus , Templar specialization, and some Dweomer runes make him a hell of a Mage killer.

It's just a huge arsenal of disabling moves. I've neglected the "tanking" skills in the weapon/shield selection so far. I took the first and third row but haven't invested in the second. Now I'm pretty much maxed out on everything else, though, so I may have to take those just for the hell of it. Alistair has fallen to the wayside, since Shale is just a way better "tank" for when one is needed and has the added abilities like Earthen Grasp to add even more crowd control fun.
