Tactics were good for handling Healing, but most of the time you're better off doing shit manually. Particularly with Warriors and Rogues. They don't really have enough stamina to make automation that useful, since they'll only get a handful of abilities off per-fight.
Agreed. I played through with as a rogue twice and tactics had no real benefit. Rogues need to be... er... finessed!
Tactics wasn't very useful for mages mid-way through the game since there was no effective way to program AoE attacks. If you're using tactics to just blast one-off spells, fine... but what a waste of juice!
Though I also agree that tactics was useful for managing healing. So it's not all bad. It's just not the holy grail it's made out to be.
Tactics were absolutely perfect for Dog though,
See Enemy= Dread Howl
Enemy grouped with two allies= Dread Howl
Enemy Mage= Overwhelm
Haha, sure but how long did you use dog? (Aside: Dog naaaaames! I have had Barksley, Cuddles, Big Jake and Binston.)
Dog is actually pretty solid. He totally tanked a dragon for me once after Alistair bit the dust. Good times.
So I actually went and watched the Dragon Age: Redemption teaser trailer and I hope my face doesn't get stuck like this or people might think I'm living with chronic pain.

I always just called the dog Cat. Don't know why. I rarely used him though.
Maybe I still need to spend more time with her, but so far it feels like Verana is Bioware's attempt to outdo Morrigan as the biggest douchebag female mage in the game.
At least Nathanial gets some extra points in awesome for his rhetoric on her.
"You're a terrible person...and your ears are clownish"
I named my noblewoman's dog "dicks" as a laugh because I assumed the dog you get in the origin story would die and be replaced with the dog everyone else gets.
What a pointless, snarky article. Goddamn it, Kotaku.
I wouldn't worry too much either way. As far as I can tell, the most significant change as far as complexity goes is the inventory system, and it remains to be seen how well it works.
How will it work more poorly when it's pretty much exactly the same inventory screen with different icons and a black background?
I meant the party inventory system. You can't customize everyone to the same degree that you could in the first game.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
Isabela is the only one with huge boobs. One of the good things about the lack of armor for companions is that they can all have unique body shapes and sizes.

So far, Isabela is the only one who has been established as Sex On Two Legs, as far as I know, which makes perfect sense, considering her role in DA:O. I've heard rumors that other characters get that treatment when Varric is... exaggerating, though.
Eh, that one review seemed to imply they're essentially the ashley-kaiden/jacob-miranda of this game. Two fairly normal, average party members you get before the real ones.

Ah. The only mod I tried was the thing with the magic abilities reset crow? Which was super but also meh because I knew I was really just cheating.

Or I would have named him that if there had been enough space. WoofsworthPuppington had to do.
I think I'll be sticking with that.
Its not like you are obligated to get those.
If anything, Hawke seems like great fodder for weird first names.
I'm going with Solid Hawke. 8-)
Ham Hawke
Tony Hawke

Eh, I doubt anyone remembers that cartoon. You know, since Thundercats was more popular! <mumbles> "screw you Lion-O!"

But if we get to name our dog in DA2, I think I'll go with a different name. Though I don't know what name.
[pet dicks]
Dot, or Enzo, or Glitch all sound like good names. Or Bob.
How about Tally Hawke?

At least fem-Hawke looks normal.

I thought we couldn't use DirectX11 in the demo?
