I just got The Call today. There is a good chance that I might be moving from the east coast to LA some time next month. I have some friends who is already living there but more options and information never hurt. I'm going to be looking for a decent one bedroom apartment or studio in Culver City that's not terribly expensive, what would be some good internet sources that I should be looking into? Rent.com? Should I brave craigslist?

It is kind of a scam, landlords can list stuff for free but apartment seekers have to pay to join. Using it is sort of a fact of life out here. I would probably steer clear of Craigslist.
Another forum I frequent also suggested westsiderentals. Guess there is no avoiding it. Thanks.
My girlfriend found her awesome south pasadena bungalow through craigslist.
Looks like the Daily Bruin actually has an online section devoted to housing.

It says it specifically targeted for students, but I'm pretty sure anyone can apply as long as it's not operated by campus housing.
