I'm curious to see where Shuma Gorath falls on that list. I was planning on playing Zero/Akuma/Shuma Gorath (provided he's kinda fun), but that could be a pretty damn low health team. Oh well, the fun I have in this game is just making teams of characters I like, not trying to win or be good.
Low health doesn't mean they'll be bad. Hell, look at Strider in MvC2. It just means you'll have to work at getting better at not being hit.
Does strider go down in one basic one bar combo from probably every character?
Note that I haven't played MvC2 much so I'm just curious.
No he doesn't. And neither does anyone in this game other than Phoenix. And while I am willing to admit Phoenix's health looks ridiculous, Kiz didn't say he was going to play her. God speed to anyone who is planning to do that though.

Not that this has any real bearing on this game, but IIRC most of the 'best' characters in MvC2 had below average health (with the biggest exception being Sentinel of course).
MvC2 healthbars were all 144 pixels long, the only difference being the multiplier of how much incoming damage did.
So of the top four, you have two of them taking slightly more damage than average (Magneto, Storm), one taking exactly average (Cable), and one having the best standard health in the game (Sentinel).

I guess you could make the argument that since she's two healthbars (which total 840k health) that it's somehow okay, but that's pretty ridiculous.
I am really expecting something amazing from her since Seth says she is good. Wasn't it him that said something like she is for experts (or is that something we all said on here?)?
edit: Oh, by the way, ORDERED! Yay, Amazon. Hopefully they are as badass as they were with Gears 2, when I got that game a few days before release.
If you want phoenix on your team, you can't afford to waste super bars, so you're essentially gimping your team's damage if you want to fully utilise her.
Her healing super from what I've seen is only useful in her DP mode where her health is constantly draining so you can use the healing super to counter that, but that means that you have to be constantly building meter and spending meter on that, but from what I've seen it's totally worth it.
Still kind of skeptical how much good a healing super does when you die from one good combo.
Not even a good combo, but a super basic combo. Ryu did a 100% on her that consisted of a basic ground magic series to a level 1 super. She really needs to have something super amazing combat wise to make her anything other than a wasted slot on a team. Hopefully she will.

Well her healing stays active for awhile and pretty much instant heals her red health as soon as you damage her, so it kinda sorta gives her a little more health...maybe? /reachforstraws.

I'm wondering how viable a She-Hulk/Hsien Ko/XXXX would be considering the amount of stun these 2 would do.

My padherder they don't it be like it is but it do
He has the life siphon grab and his level 3. He and Omega Red have always been pretty difficult for me to place play wise. Marvel games don't really have traditional grappler characters as much but to me it's a huge part of his game plan setting up the siphon and the level 3 so that's my logic for calling him a grappler.
From Shoryuken, an article states that the CEO of Razer just tweeted:
"Given how we have designed the first tournament ready XBox controller, maybe it's time to design a REAL tournament fightstick."
I was going there to get some info on Phoenix because I really wanted to use her as a main.
Looked at their 360 controller...doesn't look all that bad and it's only 50 bucks.
Might get one depending on how my tax refund looks.
edit: And when they aren't sold out.

I'd be real interested to see how Razer did it. I don't see anything being very well accepted unless it comes out of the box with Sanwa and is easily moddable.
Depending on price I'd probably give it a whirl though.
Anyone else modding their stick for mvc3? Just finished the art, gonna print it tomorrow, and i have some clear seimitsu buttons and a circular gate incoming. Never tried semitsu butttons, but I read that they're a bit quieter, albeit stiffer.
Also, i hope the circular gate is good. I tried a hexagonal gate and i couldn't stand it. I'm okay with a square gate, but a having no corners like at he arcade would be nice.
I'm sure Razer could put out components as good as or better than Sanwa's in terms of precision and feel. I doubt they'd do a modable controller though, and I would bet a small amount of money that the first iteration won't take into account just how rough some arcade players are.

Well of course a six sided gate sucks! Unless you meant octagonal.
A razer stick with parts made from scratch would be interesting, but without ANY option of modability I think it will forever be a niche item that in ten years people will be like "I'm looking for an old razer stick if anyone has one" in the SRK trade forums.
I really liked the seimitsu buttons that I tried on my friend's stick the other night. All my sticks have sanwa buttons but I wouldn't object to seimitsu at some point.
Where are those health numbers from? I don't see how Phoenix is anywhere near viable with what we've seen of her and that much health. She gets caught coming in to assist she's gone for sure, one combo she's gone, totally doesn't seem worth it. Be really disappointing if she's a bust, great design.
I REALLY want to re-do my stick art with an Arthur theme but I'm a disaster with that sort of thing, if anyone wants to help out let me know. Would have to do a color scheme to work with the light blue buttons which should be workable with Arthur.
For some reason I'm insanely psyched about that character, just nostalgia I suppose.
Oh and count me in for Ranbats, hopefully I can make it to quite a few more then I did the SSF4.

Japanese-style arcade cabinets do. At my usual arcade, the only fighting game with square corners is the sit-down head-to-head Tekken 6. Everything else uses Happ controls without square corners.

I feel you are being needlessly nitpicky.
No he does not
Thank god
I think I saw some moves with super armour though.
Wow.
I'm still planning to use Phoenix, but that is pants-on-head retarded.

A second health bar which you need 5 bars to use.
With her health constantly draining.
I dunno, maybe she'll be a good very high risk/high reward character.
and she has a healing super
and never use supers until you bring her out. I'm really having a hard time to find using her worth it

they don't it be like it is but it do
Isn't his only grapple his level 3? Other than this basic throw of course.

I always forget he has that move despite using him for years.
it never seemed all that useful. I usually play him rushdown style. or build up meter with blackheart and send in shuma for some badtouch
Need to get off my ass and look into the programs I need to make an appropriate etch image.
Luckily I already have extra buttons and a stick.
Well of course a six sided gate sucks! Unless you meant octagonal.

I love south american ground karate
Arcade cabinet sticks have corners.
Squaregate in fact, most of the time.
For tekken 6 I would have preferred octogate though.
